Error Code: 2137-8035

Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo Switch - OLED Model

Steps for when you're unable to complete a download on your console and receive the error code 2137-8035.

Note
  • This error code indicates the connection has likely timed out during a download.
  • This error may be the result of a slow Internet connection, wireless interference, or a weak wireless signal from the router.

Before you start

You will need:

  • Your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console
  • An Internet connection

Possible solutions

How is your console connected to the Internet?

  • Wireless Connection
    • Create a new Internet connection.

        1. Place the Nintendo Switch 2 console within 10 feet of the wireless router so there will be a strong wireless signal.

        4. Select the appropriate network name (SSID) from the list.

        6. The connection will be tested. Once the test is complete, select OK.
          • If the connection test fails, an error code and message will appear. Search for our support article on the error code for steps to troubleshoot the connection.

      • How to connect Nintendo Switch to a wireless home network
        1. Place the Nintendo Switch console within 10 feet of the wireless router to ensure a strong wireless signal.
        2. Select Settings from the HOME Menu System Settings icon highlighted on the HOME Menu Screen on the Nintendo Switch console.
        3. Select Internet, and then Internet Settings Internet is selected on the System Settings menu on the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch will automatically search for near-by Wi-Fi signals.
        4. Select the appropriate network name (SSID) from the list.
        5. If prompted, use the onscreen keyboard to enter the network's wireless password Onscreen keyboard displayed when a network's wireless password is required.
        6. The Nintendo Switch will test the Internet connection. Once the test is complete, select OK to complete the process.

    • Manually enter an alternate DNS.
      • How to manually enter DNS settings on Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch
        1. Select Settings from the HOME Menu.
        2. Select Internet.
        3. Select Internet Settings. Your console will automatically search for nearby Wi-Fi signals.
        4. Select your network from the list of networks located under Saved Networks on Nintendo Switch 2 or Registered Networks on Nintendo Switch.
        5. Select Change Settings.
        6. Select DNS Settings.
        7. Select Manual.
        8. Select Primary DNS.
        9. Hold down the B Button to delete the existing DNS (it defaults to zeros).
        10. Enter 8.8.8.8 as the primary DNS, and then select OK.

          Important: The suggested DNS are public DNS provided by Google and are subject to Google's Terms of Service. If you prefer to not use this service, doing an Internet search for public DNS will provide you with several other options you can use.

        11. Select Secondary DNS.
        12. Hold down the B Button to delete the existing DNS.
        13. Enter 8.8.4.4 as the secondary DNS, and then select OK.

    • Move the console within 10 to 15 feet of the wireless router to improve the signal strength during troubleshooting.
      • It may be helpful to remove the console from the dock while troubleshooting, and then return it when troubleshooting is complete.
    • Power cycle your home network.
      • How to power cycle your home network
        1. Unplug the power cable from both the modem and wireless router (if separate from the modem).
        2. If the modem's lights remain on, this may indicate you have a back-up battery installed. You will need to remove this battery to power cycle the modem.
        3. After 30 seconds, plug the power cable back into your modem and wait for the lights to remain steady.
        4. Plug the power cable back into the router and wait for the router lights to remain steady.

    • Try to reduce wireless interference and increase your network signal strength
      • How to reduce wireless interference
        • Move the router to a central location within your home and as close to your system as possible. If your router is on the floor, moving it to a higher location can improve the signal strength.
        • Move any metal objects or electronic devices away from your Nintendo Switch console and wireless router. This includes filing cabinets, speakers, power strips, glass, or cordless phones that may interfere with wireless signals.
        • Connect to a different wireless band if your router supports both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequency bands and a Bluetooth audio device is connected to your Nintendo Switch system.
        • Disconnect any Bluetooth audio device and pair a different device or use wired audio.

    Situation not resolved

    • Try to connect to a different wireless band, if supported by your router.
      • Many routers support both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequency bands. If your router supports both, set up a new Internet connection and connect to the band you are not currently connecting to. Many routers will have default SSID names that label whether the connection is 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz, but if you're not sure, you can review this information within your router's settings.

    If you are still unable to connect, this may indicate an issue related to the network environment or wireless router being used. If you would like to continue troubleshooting potential issues related to the wireless router, contact the router's manufacturer for assistance with performing the following steps:

    • Updating the wireless router's firmware
    • Resetting the router back to its factory default settings

  • Wired Connection
    Important
    • A USB LAN Adapter is required to set up a Wired Internet connection when using a Nintendo Switch dock without a LAN port.
    • A USB LAN Adapter can be connected to Nintendo Switch Lite using a licensed accessory, such as the Dual USB PlayStand for Nintendo Switch Lite from HORI.

    • Try to connect online through the network with a different device that has an Internet browser, and test to ensure the internet is connecting.
      • If other devices cannot connect online, the network itself may not have access to the Internet. If this occurs, contact your ISP or network administrator.

    Situation not resolved

    If you are still unable to connect, this may indicate an issue related to the network environment or router being used.

    If you would like to continue troubleshooting potential issues related to the router, contact the router's manufacturer for assistance with performing the following steps:

    • Updating the router's firmware
    • Resetting the router back to its factory default settings
