How to Delete a Nintendo eShop Account

Nintendo 3DS

In this article, you'll learn how to remove (delete) a Nintendo eShop Account.

What to do

  1. Have you linked a Nintendo Network ID to your system?
  2. If you have linked a Nintendo Network ID to your system, you cannot delete the Nintendo eShop activity unless you delete the Nintendo Network ID. There are two ways to remove a Nintendo eShop account if you have linked an ID:

    • To keep your Nintendo Network ID and Nintendo eShop activity but remove the link from the system, format the system memory.
      • Formatting does not allow you to link the Nintendo Network ID to another system. Use the System Transfer option to move the Nintendo Network ID to another system.
    • To delete the Nintendo Network ID and any associated Nintendo eShop activity, delete the Nintendo Network ID.

Note: Removing (deleting) a Nintendo eShop account will also remove all Ambassador licenses and they will no longer be available for download.

    1. Select the Nintendo eShop icon on the system's HOME menu.
    2. Scroll left and select Settings/Other.
    3. Scroll down and select Delete Account.
    4. Select Delete, then select Enter Serial Number.
    5. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter the first 10 characters of the serial number, then select OK to remove the Nintendo eShop account.
      • The first two letters must be capitalized.
