How to Update Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

Follow these steps to update Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, or review the software's update history.

Note
  • Save data will still be available for use after downloading the update.
  • The update will download and install automatically if the console is connected to the Internet and the Software Auto-Updates setting is enabled on your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console. To ensure you have space to download the update, please review our storage tips for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.
  • All players must be using the same version of the software to play together. Please make sure you have the same update version as the person you are playing with.

On July 22, 2026, a new software update for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream became available for download. Please take a moment to download and install this update while your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console is connected to the Internet.

Complete these steps

  1. Connect your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console to the internet.
    • How to connect Nintendo Switch 2 to a wireless home network
      1. Place the Nintendo Switch 2 console within 10 feet of the wireless router so there will be a strong wireless signal.

      4. Select the appropriate network name (SSID) from the list.
      5. Use the onscreen keyboard to enter the network's wireless password, if one is required. Entering wireless network password using on-screen keyboard in the System Settings on Nintendo Switch 2
      6. The connection will be tested. Once the test is complete, select OK.
        • If the connection test fails, an error code and message will appear. Search for our support article on the error code for steps to troubleshoot the connection.

    • How to connect Nintendo Switch to a wireless home network
      1. Place the Nintendo Switch console within 10 feet of the wireless router to ensure a strong wireless signal.
      2. Select Settings from the HOME Menu System Settings icon highlighted on the HOME Menu Screen on the Nintendo Switch console.
      3. Select Internet, and then Internet Settings Internet is selected on the System Settings menu on the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch will automatically search for near-by Wi-Fi signals.
      4. Select the appropriate network name (SSID) from the list.
      5. If prompted, use the onscreen keyboard to enter the network's wireless password Onscreen keyboard displayed when a network's wireless password is required.
      6. The Nintendo Switch will test the Internet connection. Once the test is complete, select OK to complete the process.

  2. From the HOME Menu, select the icon for the software you wish to update without starting the game or application.
  3. Press the + Button or – Button on your controller. The current version number will display under the software title.
  4. Select Software Update followed by Via the Internet.

Fixed issues

  • Fixed an issue where on rare occasion, after using Island Builder, the save data would become corrupted, preventing the game from starting for subsequent play sessions.
  • Fixed an issue where the game could not progress properly after resolving a Mii character’s concerns, resulting in an error that would cause the game to close.
  • Fixed an issue where the Mii characters on posters at the clothing shop would not display correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where the Mii characters on posters at the Ferris wheel or the news station were unevenly selected.
  • Other issues were fixed to improve the gameplay experience.

    Fixed issues

    • Fixed an issue that prevented game progression after trying to visit a Mii character from the Mii List at the same time that Mii character entered or exited the Ferris wheel.
    • Fixed an issue with receiving money that, on rare occasion, prevented the amount of money the player has from displaying properly, which then prevented game progression.
    • Fixed an issue where, on rare occasion, raising a Mii character’s satisfaction level repeatedly could trigger an error and cause the game to close.
    • Fixed an issue where the number of days after becoming sweethearts or after getting married could display incorrectly.
    • Fixed an issue where the camera would zoom in too much when giving a Mii character a head rub.
    • Fixed an issue where occasionally some objects would not display correctly during Mii News or within the photo studio.
    • Fixed an issue where a Mii character could have all of the clothing items necessary to create a particular outfit, but the game didn’t respond as if the Mii character owned that outfit.
    • Fixed an issue where sometimes lingo taught to Mii characters wasn’t always spoken aloud fully.
    • Other issues were fixed to improve the gameplay experience.

    Changes to local play

    • Mii characters or other creations cannot be sent via local play if the island name or player name contains numbers or text that is subject to display restrictions.
  • Ver. 1.0.2 (Released May 14, 2026)

    Fixed issues

    • Fixed an issue where, after player builds up their island, the game sometimes will not be able to progress.
    • Fixed an issue where if you change to an exterior of a house you made at the Palette House, the game sometimes will not be able to progress.
    • Fixed an issue where, after a Mii character confesses successfully and the player tries to save, it is displayed that “your save data is corrupted,” and the player is not able to save.
    • Fixed an issue where, after multiple Mii characters start to live together, and when the player saves, it is displayed that “data has been corrupted” and the player is not able to save.
    • Fixed an issue where, when a scene switches over, an error would rarely occur and the game would stop.
    • Fixed an issue where the player could store the wishing fountain using Island Builder, but would not be able to place it on the island again afterwards, and wishes could not be granted.
    • Fixed an issue where, after a Mii character failed to patch things up with another Mii character after fighting, its crush for a different Mii character would disappear.
    • Fixed an issue where a Mii character did not feel better even when its Sadness ran out.
    • Fixed an issue where the player could not send/receive things through local play.
    • Since the game was incorrectly using the image of the southern flying squirrel for the image of the treasure “sugar glider,” it was changed to the correct image.
    • Other issues were fixed to improve the gameplay experience.
