How to Update Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition

Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo Switch - OLED Model

Follow these steps to update Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, or review the software's update history.

Note
  • This update must be applied in order to use the game’s Internet features.
  • A Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use the game's online features.
  • Save data will still be available for use after downloading the update.
  • The update will download and install automatically if the system is connected to the internet and the Auto-Update Software setting is enabled. If there is not enough system memory or microSD card storage to download the update, you will first need to expand or free up memory space and then follow the steps below.
  • If you purchased or upgraded to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of this software, this update must be applied to enjoy any added features or content when playing on Nintendo Switch 2.

On February 19, 2026, a new software update for Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition became available for download. Please take a moment to download and install this update while your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console is connected to the internet.

Complete these steps

  1. Connect your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console to the internet.
    • How to connect Nintendo Switch 2 to a wireless home network
      1. Place the Nintendo Switch 2 console within 10 feet of the wireless router so there will be a strong wireless signal.

      4. Select the appropriate network name (SSID) from the list.

      6. The connection will be tested. Once the test is complete, select OK.
        • If the connection test fails, an error code and message will appear. Search for our support article on the error code for steps to troubleshoot the connection.

    • How to connect Nintendo Switch to a wireless home network
      1. Place the Nintendo Switch console within 10 feet of the wireless router to ensure a strong wireless signal.
      2. Select Settings from the HOME Menu System Settings icon highlighted on the HOME Menu Screen on the Nintendo Switch console.
      3. Select Internet, and then Internet Settings Internet is selected on the System Settings menu on the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch will automatically search for near-by Wi-Fi signals.
      4. Select the appropriate network name (SSID) from the list.
      5. If prompted, use the onscreen keyboard to enter the network's wireless password Onscreen keyboard displayed when a network's wireless password is required.
      6. The Nintendo Switch will test the Internet connection. Once the test is complete, select OK to complete the process.

  2. From the HOME Menu, select the icon for the software you wish to update without starting the game or application.
  3. Press the + Button or – Button on your controller. The current version number will display under the software title.
  4. Select Software Update followed by Via the Internet.

    • Fixed an issue in Online Missions where parts were restored when entering or exiting a Skell.
    • Fixed an issue where the software would shut down if a character was added to a party immediately after a Recruited Blade returned.
    • Fixed an issue where "????" was displayed in the "Fashion Gear" list.
    • Fixed an issue where Skell weapons multiplied when performing a battle trait upgrade following certain steps.
    • Fixed an issue where slot openings were not properly reflected when performing certain steps at L's shop.
    • Made other text corrections, such as typos.
    • Several other issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience.
    Changes and Additions to Functions
    • Added tips that are displayed when opening related tips on some menu screens such as the Class Change screen.
    • Buff and debuff icons are now displayed in Online Missions.
    • There were two basic missions with the title "Backup Request", and it was difficult to distinguish between them, so the quest names have been split-up.
