Unable to Access New Features/Content After Purchasing or Downloading a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack
Follow these steps if you upgraded to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of a game, but the upgrades do not appear in-game, or you receive a message like "You can't use the upgrade pack" when starting the software.
Note
- When an upgrade pack is installed for the software, its icon on the HOME Menu will be updated to include "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition".
- If you pre-ordered an upgrade pack, the data may download before the upgrade pack is playable, and you'll receive the message "You'll need to wait until the release date to use the upgrade pack" when starting the software.
What to do
- Ensure the console has been updated to the latest system menu version.

How to check for the latest system update
- Select System Settings on the HOME Menu.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the System Settings menu and select System.
- Select System Update to start the system update process.
- The system will check to see if an update is available.

How to check for the latest system update
- Check for any available software updates for the game. An update to the Nintendo Switch version of the software, in addition to the upgrade pack, is required to access the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of the game.

How to update game software
- Ensure the console is connected to the Internet.
- From the HOME Menu, select (but do not start) the icon for the software you wish to update.
- Press the + Button or – Button on your controller, then select Software Update followed by Via the Internet.

- If you purchased the upgrade pack from the Nintendo eShop, make sure the virtual game card is loaded on the console you're currently using.

- Select your user.
- If prompted, enter your user verification PIN or enter your Nintendo Account password.
- Select the game you want to load from the list of your virtual game cards.

- If not already downloaded, the icon for the game will appear on the HOME Menu and it will begin downloading. Once downloaded, all users on the console where the game is loaded can play the game.

- If necessary, redownload the upgrade pack.

To redownload DLC, load the virtual game card for the DLC:

How to redownload software or DLC without loading the virtual game card
- Enable the "Online License" setting for your Nintendo Account:
- Select your user icon from the HOME Menu.

- If you have enabled user verification, you may be prompted to confirm your identity by re-entering your password or entering a PIN.
- Select the game or DLC you want to redownload from the list of your virtual game cards.
- Select Options Opciones Options Opções .

- The game or DLC will begin downloading automatically. You can check the download status on the HOME Menu.

How to download upgrade packs included with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack
- Begin a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership or join a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack Family Membership, if you do not already have an active membership.
- Select the Nintendo eShop icon on the HOME Menu to open the Nintendo eShop.
- Select the Nintendo Switch Online menu on the left.
- Scroll down and locate the upgrade pack you would like to download.
- Select the upgrade pack, then select Download.

How to redownload DLC
- If you pre-ordered the upgrade pack, check the Nintendo eShop listing to confirm the upgrade pack has released. If the Nintendo eShop listing has a green "Preorder" flag and includes an estimated release date underneath the price, the content is not available yet.
- Restart the Nintendo Switch 2 console. To restart the console, press the POWER Button for three seconds, and then select Power Options, followed by Restart.
- Start the game and check whether the title screen includes "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition".
