User-Verification Settings Guide

Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo Switch - OLED Model

Steps for managing your user-verification settings on Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch.

Information

If you wish, you can restrict access to a few select features on your console by requiring entry of a PIN or signing in to your Nintendo Account.

By default this setting is turned off, which means you will not be asked for verification when accessing these features, and any other users on the system will also be able to freely access the features by selecting your user.

What to do

  • How to enable user verification and choose a verification method
    1. From the HOME Menu, select your user icon.
    2. Scroll down and select User-Verification SettingsAjustes de verificación de identidadParamètres de confirmation d'identitéConfigurações de verificação de identidade.
    3. You may be prompted to confirm your identity by re-entering your password, re-authenticating with your passkey, and/or by verifying your email address.
      • Password entry

        If prompted to enter your password, enter it then select OK.

      • Passkey re-authentication

        If you have enabled passkey authentication, you can confirm your identity by signing in using your passkey.

      • Email address verification

        If prompted to verify your email address, select Submit to have an email with a verification code sent to the email address associated with your Nintendo Account. Locate the code in your email and enter it in the "Verification code" box, then click Submit.

        • If you do not receive the email, but you have registered a phone number to your Nintendo Account, select Use another method to verify your identity on the "E-mail address verification" screen, then Submit. A code will be sent via text message to your phone number—enter it in the "Verification Code" box and select Submit to verify your identity.
        • If you have not registered a phone number to your Nintendo Account (or the verification text message does not arrive) and do not receive the email, please follow our steps for Did Not Receive a Nintendo Account Identity Verification Email.
    4.     5. If you chose PIN Contraseña Code secret PIN , follow the onscreen instructions to create a 4 to 8 digit PIN Contraseña Code secret PIN .
    6. Choose whether or not to require user verification for each listed feature.     Additional information

    Note that these settings are unique to each of your consoles. You can choose to use different methods on each of your consoles, and can have a unique PIN Contraseña Code secret PIN for each console.

  • How to reset your  PIN Contraseña Code secret PIN
    1. With the PIN Contraseña Code secret PIN entry screen displayed, press the + button The Help option called out on the user-verification PIN screen.     3. Sign in to your Nintendo Account.
    4. A message will appear indicating that your PIN Contraseña Code secret PIN has been deleted. Select OK Aceptar OK OK .
      • Note that this will not turn off user verification, but instead switch it to requiring you to sign in to your Nintendo Account. You can change back to the PIN Contraseña Code secret PIN verification method and create a new PIN Contraseña Code secret PIN in your User Settings.
