Follow these steps when you are unable to use the Save Data Cloud service on Nintendo Switch 2.
Important: An active Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use this service.
Note: Save data backups for Nintendo Switch software can be shared between Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch consoles using the same Nintendo Account. If you own the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of a Nintendo Switch game, any Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive features or content would not be made accessible on Nintendo Switch.
Possible solutions
- Ensure your Nintendo Switch 2 console is connected to the Internet and has the latest system update.
- Confirm that the Nintendo Account you are using has an active Nintendo Switch Online membership.
- Check whether the software you are using supports Save Data Cloud backups.
- Visit Nintendo's Network Status page and check for any posted service maintenance or outages.
- Make sure that the software is not currently in use. Save data cannot be backed up while the software is open.
- Manually back up the save data.
