How to Edit User Profile Settings on Nintendo Switch 2

Follow these steps to adjust a user’s profile settings, including nickname, icon, and background on Nintendo Switch 2.

Complete these steps

You can reach the User Settings menu the following ways:

From the user's page

From System Settings
  1. From the HOME Menu, select System Settings. The System Settings icon highlighted on the HOME Menu on Nintendo Switch 2
  2. Scroll down the options on the left and select UsersUsuariosUtilisateursUsuários. Then select the user profile you wish to edit.
  • Profile Settings

    The following Profile Settings can be adjusted for each user:

    • Edit Icon: Select a character or Mii, or adjust the background.
    • Edit Nickname: Edit the nickname that can be seen by other players.
    • Play Activity Settings: Choose who is able to see your play activity when they view your profile, between all users, friends, best friends, or no one. Other users on the console will still be able to view your play activity by selecting your user.
      • You can also delete your play activity.
  • Nintendo Account

    The following Nintendo Account Settings can be adjusted for each user:

    • Check Your Account Information: You can check your Nintendo Account information or use a QR code to visit the website on your smart device.
    • Display QR Code to Check In: Have this QR code scanned at Nintendo events and locations for My Nintendo-related benefits.
    • User-Verification Settings: You can adjust your user verification options and create a PIN to protect your account on-device.
    • Online-License Settings: Toggle on to let you play downloaded software while you are connected to the internet without loading a virtual game card.
  • Nintendo Switch Online

    The following Nintendo Switch Online settings can be adjusted for each user:

    • Check Your Subscriptions: Jump to Nintendo eShop to view your subscriptions.
    • Platinum Point Notifications: Toggle notifications on or off for when you have Platinum Points available to connect.
  • Friend Functions

    The following Friend Settings can be adjusted for each user:

    • Online-Status Display: Select who can see when you are online, between all friends, best friends, or no one.
    • Friend Requests: Toggle friend requests on or off to control whether people can add you as a friend.
    • Friend Notifications: Select which notifications can appear when you are online and from whom to display certain notifications.
      • Notification options
        • Friend-Request Notification: On or Off.
        • Online Users: On or Off.
        • Notify When Friends Come Online: All Friends, Best Friends Only, or None.
        • Online Play Invite Notifications: All Friends, Best Friends Only, or None.
        • GameChat Invite Notifications: On or Off.
    • Reissue Friend Code: This will change your friend code if you are receiving requests from unwanted or unknown users. Please note this can only be changed once every 30 days.
    • Manage Blocked-User List: View a list of users you have blocked. By selecting a user, you can view the reason you blocked them, their nickname and in-game name from where you played with them, and the date you blocked them. You can also unblock them.
  • GameChat

  • Album

    The following Upload Settings can be adjusted for each user. Note that the Nintendo Switch App must be set up with your Nintendo Account for these settings to take effect.

    • Upload Status: Check the status of any pending uploads, cancel pending uploads, or check error history.
    • Automatic Uploads: Toggle on to automatically upload captured screenshots and videos to the Nintendo Switch App.
    • Delete Uploads: You can delete all uploaded screenshots and videos from the server. Files stored in system memory or on a microSD Express card are not included.
    • About Uploads: View information about uploading captured screenshots and videos to the Nintendo Switch App.
  • Nintendo eShop

    The following Nintendo eShop Settings can be adjusted for each user:

    • Nintendo eShop Settings: Jump to Nintendo eShop to change saved payment information and other various settings.
    • Update Download Progress: Update the download progress for software that is currently downloading.
  • News

    Select Channel Settings to search for News channels to follow, or go through your currently followed channels and stop following any you no longer want to see.

  • User Support

    Select Support Number to view an identification number that may be required for customer support inquiries.

  • Delete User

    Note: This option can only be selected if you accessed User Settings through System Settings, not through the User Page.
