How to Change GameChat Settings Using the C Menu

Complete these steps

Select the setting you'd like to change.

Settings you can adjust while not in a GameChat room

• Approved-Friend Settings

  For steps to approve or withdraw approval for friends to chat with you, please see How to Manage Approved-Friend Settings for GameChat.

• Mute microphone when entering a chat session
  1. Press the C Button botón C bouton C botão C , or select the GameChat icon from the HOME Menu.
  2. Select your user.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Toggle the "Mute Microphone When Entering a Chat Session" setting on or off as desired. When enabled, you will need to unmute yourself to begin talking after joining a GameChat room.

• Terms and Conditions for using GameChat
  1. Press the C Button botón C bouton C botão C , or select the GameChat icon from the HOME Menu.
  2. Select your user.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Select GameChat Terms. You can review the terms or withdraw your consent to the terms.
     • Please note that if you do not consent to the GameChat terms, you will not be able to use this service.

Settings aimed at specific users in your current GameChat room

• Turn your video on/off, mute your microphone, turn your screen share on/off
  1. Press the C Button botón C bouton C botão C to open the C Menu.
  2. Select the icon for the function you want to toggle:
     • The video camera icon will turn your video camera feed on or off if you have plugged in a compatible USB camera. You can change how much of the video is displayed to others through the "Camera Video" settings below. For users under the age of 16, a parent or guardian must approve camera usage for each chat.
     • The microphone icon will mute or unmute your microphone.
     • The screen with an arrow icon will start or stop sharing your game screen to others in the room. Screen sharing is automatically disabled in some situations.
• Expand another user's game screen
  1. Press the C Button botón C bouton C botão C to open the C Menu.
  2. Select one of the users in the room.
  3. Select Expand Game Screen.
  4. When you want to return to your own screen, press the B Button.
• View another user's profile
  1. Press the C Button botón C bouton C botão C to open the C Menu.
  2. Select one of the users in the room.
  3. Select ProfilePerfilProfilPerfil.
  4. You can review the user's play history, how and when you became friends, mark them as a best friend, delete them from your friend list, or block them.
     • Deleting a user from your friend list or blocking them while in a GameChat room together may remove you from the room.

• Change a user's voice volume or turn their screen share display on/off
  1. Press the C Button botón C bouton C botão C to open the C Menu.
  2. Select one of the users in the room.
  3. Select OptionsOpcionesOptionsOpções.
  4. You can adjust a volume slider for that user's voice volume, or toggle whether their shared screen displays for you.
     • When another user's screen share is turned off from your side, the message "Game screen hidden based on the current user settings" will display.

Other settings you can adjust while in a GameChat room

• Screen Layout
  1. Press the C Button botón C bouton C botão C to open the C Menu.
  2. Select the Settings icon.
  3. Select Screen Layout.
  4. You can pick from "Standard" , "Expand Main Screen" , or "Full Screen" options. If you select Full Screen, you can also choose to display or hide the names of active speakers in a specific corner of your screen.
• Invite more friends to the room
  1. Press the C Button botón C bouton C botão C to open the C Menu.
  2. Select the Settings icon.
  3. Select Invite, then Add Friends to the Chat.
  4. Select the additional friends you want to invite. A total of 12 users can be in the GameChat room.
  5. Select Next, then Add to send the selected users an invite.

  Note that in certain cases, it may not be possible to add friends to your current GameChat session:

  • Supervised users cannot be invited to an existing session. If any user invited to the current session is supervised, you also cannot invite additional friends.
  • If the friend you want to invite has not already been approved for GameChat by all users invited to the session, they cannot be invited.
  • Users that are blocked by someone invited to the current session cannot be invited.

  Depending on the situation, you can instead end the current GameChat session and start a new one to invite the additional friends.

• Chat Audio
  1. Press the C Button botón C bouton C botão C to open the C Menu.
  2. Select the Settings icon.
  3. Select Chat Audio.
  4. You can set whether to mute your microphone when entering a chat session, whether to automatically adjust the game volume while others are talking, and enable or disable Chat Audio Panning (which makes each chat member's audio seem to come from a different direction).
  5. You can also jump directly to Audio Settings in the System Settings.
• Camera Video
  1. Press the C Button botón C bouton C botão C to open the C Menu.
  2. Select the Settings icon.
  3. Select Camera Video.
  4. You can select the Camera Field of View from three different options: filter off, no background, and face only.
     • If you are under the age of 16, a parent or guardian can set which field of view options are available for you to pick.
  5. You can also zoom the camera in further.
• Screen Sharing
  1. Press the C Button botón C bouton C botão C to open the C Menu.
  2. Select the Settings icon.
  3. Select Screen Sharing.
  4. You can toggle whether to disable your screen share when you are on the HOME Menu, to avoid sharing what software you have.
• Accessibility (Speech ⇔ Text Settings)
  1. Press the C Button botón C bouton C botão C to open the C Menu.
  2. Select the Settings icon.
  3. Select Accessibility.
  4. You can toggle whether to display speech as text, which transcribes all users' speech into a chat box at the side of your main screen , and whether to allow sending text messages as voiced audio for other users.
  5. You can also jump to the System Settings to change the language that each of these features is set to (defaulting to your system language), as well as choose from two voice types for sending text as speech.
