  • Regarding the process where a player disconnecting immediately after the start of a battle triggers a no-contest result, shortened the period considered to be “immediately after the start of a battle” for Splat Zones, Tower Control, Rainmaker, and Clam Blitz modes.

Changes to X Battles

  • Changed the systems for team division to reduce the likelihood of weapons with similar preferred ranges being concentrated on the same team.

This update focuses on making changes to multiplayer balance and matchmaking.

As for multiplayer balance, we made changes to soften some of the improvements we made in ver. 11.0.0 after analyzing the state of battles over a long period of time after the release of ver. 11.0.0.

We have also made changes to improve some weapons’ unique characteristics or make them easier to handle.

For matchmaking, we have adjusted team division to make it easier for the process introduced in ver. 11.1.0, which makes it so that players more frequently battle with weapons of similar preferred ranges, to be applied.

The next update will focus on changes to multiplayer balance.

    Changes to X Battles

    • Changed the system for matchmaking so that, rather than having players with similar X Power at that time battle each other, now players whose final X Power will likely become similar after accumulating matches will be paired for battles.
    • Changed the systems for matchmaking and team division to make it less likely to result in skill disparity between teams, even in time zones or regions where there are not many players.
    • In the Tentatek Division, players with X Power less than 2000.0 and players with X Power of 2000.0 or higher may now be matched together.
    • Changed the matchmaking system to allow battles against more different weapons than before.

This update focuses on making changes to matchmaking and multiplayer balance.

For X Battles, we have changed the systems for matchmaking and team division.

First of all, rather than simply gathering players with similar X Powers at that point in time, we have made it so that it will instead gather players whose final X Power will likely become similar after accumulating matches.

With this change, extreme matches will be less likely, even immediately after the start of the season or immediately after finishing calculation.

Also, when matchmaking is taking a long time, it will gradually soften the criteria for determining a “similar level of ability,” but we have changed these criteria and the system for team division to ensure that the level of ability of players on both teams will be symmetrical, even in time zones and regions with fewer players.

Additionally, we have changed the pairing system for the weapons that players may battle against.

Up until now, weapons have been divided into several groups, and the system more frequently paired weapons belonging to the same group for battles.

We have changed this system to make it so that players more frequently battle with weapons of similar preferred ranges, regardless of group, in order to reduce the likelihood of a player’s weapon always being pitted against weapons with a longer (or shorter) preferred range.

As for multiplayer balance, we made changes based on the battle data from version 11.0.0.

Among the weapons that were upgraded in version 11.0.0 or were greatly affected by changes to the battle system, we made changes to slightly reduce the performance of some weapons that the battle data showed have become highly impactful.

For some of the weapons that did not receive much benefit from the battle-system changes, we have made changes to slightly raise their performance and make them easier to wield.

The next update will focus on changes to the balance of battles.

  • Ver. 11.0.1 (Released February 4, 2026)

[Added February 10, 2026] Changes to Multiplayer

    • Specifications for some main weapons have changed.
      Weapon Change Details
      Rapid Blaster
      Rapid Blaster Deco
      • Increased the radius of ink coverage caused by spray droplets from shots by approximately 10%.
      Rapid Blaster Pro
      Rapid Blaster Pro Deco
      Rapid Blaster Pro WNT-R
      • Increased the amount of ink consumed by approximately 14%.

This update was intended to focus on bug fixes, but some multiplayer balance changes that were planned for inclusion in a future update were inadvertently made in this update as well.

As these were changes that were planned – even though they were planned for a later update – we will leave them in the game.

For the Rapid Blaster, we’ve increased the radius of the ink spray coverage so that it’s easier for players to take advantage of the fact that maintaining enough distance from the opponent is key when using this weapon.

For the Rapid Blaster Pro, we’ve increased ink consumption to increase the need for players to carefully aim each shot.

Other multiplayer balance changes will be made in the next update.

    Bug Fixes

    • Fixes to Player Controls
      • Fixed an issue where, when Blaster shots hit terrain or other objects, the explosion hit detection size for opposing players was slightly larger than intended.
      • Fixed an issue where, when some Blaster shots hit terrain or other objects, the controller would vibrate.
      • Fixed an issue where, when S-BLAST '91 or S-BLAST '92 shots hit terrain or other objects, the same sound effect would play as when they exploded in the air.
    • Fixes to Multiplayer
      • Fixed an issue where the ink that appears at a player’s feet when they enter or extend Flow Aura was not being displayed on other players’ screens.

Note: Compatible with Ver. 11.0.0 battle replays. Not compatible with battle replays from Ver. 10.1.0 or earlier.

  • Ver. 11.0.0 (Released January 28, 2026)

All changes apply to both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

    Game Content Adjustments

    Changes to Multiplayer

    • Players will now gain a Flow Aura when they do well in battle, such as when they defeat opponents consecutively within a short period of time.
      • The Flow Aura lasts for a short time.
      • While their Flow Aura persists, its duration will be extended slightly whenever the player defeats an opponent or their teammates defeat an opponent that the player damaged.
      • When a player gains a Flow Aura or extends the duration of their Flow Aura, the ground at that player’s feet will be inked with their color.
      • While a Flow Aura persists, the Run Speed Up, Swim Speed Up, Ink Resistance Up, and Intensify Action abilities will be applied.
      • Continuously getting assists with your allies or inking territory during battles will make it more likely to gain a Flow Aura when defeating opponents.
    • When an ally or opponent has taken damage, that player’s approximate remaining health will now be displayed.
      • Opponents’ remaining health will display for approximately three seconds immediately after taking damage.
      • When the main part of an opponent’s body is not visible, such as when they are behind terrain or swimming in ink, their remaining health will not display.
        • When things like Thermal Ink or the Point Sensor are revealing an opponent’s position, their remaining health will display even if the player cannot see them.
    • Slightly decreased collision-detection size for players in swim form to make it harder for opponents’ attacks to hit.
    • Expanded collision-detection size for each main weapon’s attacks to make it easier to hit opponents with attacks. Also made it so that the shorter the weapon’s shot flight distance, the greater the increase to collision-detection size will be.
    • When attempting to jump a long distance with Super Jump while the Stealth Jump ability is equipped, increased the time required to make the jump by up to one second, depending on the distance.
      • When jumping from near the player’s base to parts farther in, or vice versa, this will increase the jump time based on the distance.
      • The increase is applied to the time spent flying through the air. This will not change the time spent on the ground preparing for the Super Jump.
    • Adjusted the size of the circle indicating the explosion radius for the Reefslider to the radius of the area that deals 220.0 damage instead of to the radius inked.
    • Specifications for some main weapons have changed.

    Changes to SplatNet 3

    • Changed the used-weapon display under X Rankings to show the most frequently used weapon in X Battles for that mode during a certain period instead of the last used weapon.
      • Due to this change, the weapon used to determine the top players for weapons will be changed in the same way.

This update focuses on making changes to battle-related systems and multiplayer balance.

For information about battle-system changes like the Flow Aura, displaying remaining health, collision-detection adjustments, and extended jump duration for Super Jumps with Stealth Jump, please see the Squid Research Lab Confidential Report.

Among the balance changes, the updates for the L-3 Nozzlenose and Dynamo Roller are not simple upgrades. Rather, they are performance changes to help those weapons’ unique properties stand out.

For the L-3 Nozzlenose, we raised the speed of shots to make it easier to utilize the weapon’s unique property: its ability to maximize power by successfully hitting opponents with its three shots. On the other hand, we lowered its inking ability to make it more difficult to fight by lying in wait without proactively approaching opponents or fighting in ways that rely on the rate of turnover for special weapons.

For the Dynamo Roller, in order to make each of its swings even heavier and more powerful than before, we expanded the area of inking and the area that allows players to defeat opponents with one swing, and also increased the amount of ink consumed.

As for the other main weapons, we have made changes to make them easier to use or to emphasize unique traits among weapons with similar properties.

For the Reefslider special weapon, we improved its ability to defeat opponents by expanding the area of the explosion capable of defeating opponents in one hit, as well as making it harder to avoid the explosion using a small height difference. On the other hand, we reduced the maximum distance of the charge and decreased the area inked to make it harder to rely on the strategy of taking back Splat Zones using the ink from the explosion by pointing it toward a Splat Zone from a safe area and then charging.

Because this update includes changes to the multiplayer system that go beyond simple multiplayer balance changes, we anticipate that it will have a bigger impact on gameplay than the average update. For that reason, the next update will be sooner than normal and will focus on changes to multiplayer balance.

In this update, we made specification changes to some main weapons to make their individual characteristics stand out. We also made balance changes to multiplayer based on changes observed after adding the Splatlands Collection.

For three types of main weapons—Splash-o-matic, .52 Gal, and Splat Brella—rather than simple upgrades, we made specification changes to make their individual characteristics stand out.

For Splash-o-matic, we extended the flight distance for shots to make it easier to take advantage of its characteristic where the accuracy of your aim directly applies to your ability to defeat opponents. On the other hand, we decreased its ability to ink to make it more difficult to fight in ways that don’t take advantage of accurate aim, such as maintaining battle lines without direct confrontations or using special weapons with high frequency.

For the .52 Gal, we increased the speed of shots to make it easier to fight by taking advantage of its high attack power to defeat several opponents in a short time and create big opportunities. On the other hand, we increased the amount of ink consumed to make it harder to fight in a way that maintains battle lines over time.

For the Splat Brella, we expanded the area of its inking to make it easier to fight by taking advantage of its ability to defend from attacks to keep opponents in check and maintain battle lines, or to use the canopy to prolong the durations of battles to cooperate with allies. We also created a distinction between it and other Brellas by expanding the area of its shots. This makes it easier to support allies by dealing small, reliable damage, while at the same time making it so that in one-on-one fights, players must get closer than before to fight in ways that can quickly defeat opponents. We have also adjusted the number of points required for special weapons to ensure that special-weapon frequency does not rise higher than necessary as a result of expanding the area it inks.

For other main weapons, we made changes to make them easier to use by shoring up their weaknesses.

As for special weapons, for the Zipcaster we made changes so that it’s easier to fight with in combination with certain main weapons.

For the Ink Vac, we made changes so that when used in one-on-one situations, it is harder to be left open by quickly filling up the ink tank, but it also has greater effect when used well to block opponents’ shots.

For the Ink Storm, by expanding the area of effect, we made it easier to use it to force opponents lying in wait in advantageous positions to move, and easier for allies to fight within the area.

Additionally, we made changes to the points required for special weapons, taking into account changes observed since the addition of the Splatlands Collection.

The next update will focus on changes to the balance of battles.

      • “Best Nine” indicates the nine weapons with the highest Series Weapon Power out of all the weapons a player owns.
    • Best Nine rankings will now display.

    • Notifications from SplatNet 3 will now display in Notifications within the Nintendo Switch App.

    Other Changes

    • Increased the maximum value for weapon Freshness to 10★.
      • Players can earn new badges for weapons by achieving Freshness 6★ to 10★.
      • Once the update has been applied, weapons that had received XP beyond the maximum value before applying the update will have their Freshness increase after one battle by an amount proportionate to the amount of XP received up to this point.
    • Added new badges players can acquire based on the number of weapons with Freshness ★★★★ or higher.
    • Made it so that other players a player has battled with in Anarchy Battle (Series) and Splatfest Battle (Pro) will not display in the Users You Have Played With system feature of Nintendo Switch/Nintendo Switch 2 consoles.

As a bonus update, in this update we added weapons and a stage, increased the maximum Freshness, implemented a Series Weapon feature for Anarchy Battle (Series), added a call sign feature to X Battles, and performed optimization of operations on Nintendo Switch 2.

For Anarchy Battle (Series), we implemented a new Series Weapon feature targeted toward players Rank S or higher.

With this feature, the Series Weapon Power will be measured for each weapon currently equipped, and players will be matched up against others with similar levels of power.

We implemented this feature in hopes that players will enjoy battling using a variety of weapons, including the Splatlands Collection - Barazushi / Emberz weapons added in this update.

Additionally, we made balance changes to multiplayer battles.

For S-BLAST ‘92 and S-BLAST ‘91, we have made adjustments to give players fighting against them more room to counter because, from the opponent's point of view, there seemed to be no openings at any distance.

For the Crab Tank, we lowered the maximum damage of the cannon to decrease the frequency that the person being attacked is defeated without any opportunity to evade. We also made it easier for other special weapons to fight against the Crab Tank.

For Toxic Mist, we have reduced the amount of ink consumed to make it easier to fight in combination with main weapons. On the other hand, we have simultaneously extended the time before ink begins to recover so that this change does not lead to tactics where players simply continuously throw their sub weapons.

The next update will focus on multiplayer balance based on analysis of changes to the situation that come with these weapon additions.
