How to Update Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain

Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo Switch - OLED Model

Follow these steps to update Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain, or review the software's update history.

Note
  • This update must be applied in order to use the game’s Internet features.
  • A Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use the game's online features.
  • Save data will still be available for use after downloading the update.
  • The update will download and install automatically if the system is connected to the internet and the Software Auto-Updates setting is enabled on your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console. To ensure you have space to download the update, please review our storage tips for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.
  • All players must be using the same version of the software to play together. Please make sure you have the same update version as the person you are playing with.

On June 3, 2025, a new software update for Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain became available for download. Please take a moment to download and install this update while your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console is connected to the internet.

Complete these steps

  1. Connect your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console to the internet.
    • How to connect Nintendo Switch 2 to a wireless home network
      1. Place the Nintendo Switch 2 console within 10 feet of the wireless router so there will be a strong wireless signal.

      4. Select the appropriate network name (SSID) from the list.
      5. Use the onscreen keyboard to enter the network's wireless password, if one is required. Entering wireless network password using on-screen keyboard in the System Settings on Nintendo Switch 2
      6. The connection will be tested. Once the test is complete, select OK.
        • If the connection test fails, an error code and message will appear. Search for our support article on the error code for steps to troubleshoot the connection.

    • How to connect Nintendo Switch to a wireless home network
      1. Place the Nintendo Switch console within 10 feet of the wireless router to ensure a strong wireless signal.
      2. Select Settings from the HOME Menu System Settings icon highlighted on the HOME Menu Screen on the Nintendo Switch console.
      3. Select Internet, and then Internet Settings Internet is selected on the System Settings menu on the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch will automatically search for near-by Wi-Fi signals.
      4. Select the appropriate network name (SSID) from the list.
      5. If prompted, use the onscreen keyboard to enter the network's wireless password Onscreen keyboard displayed when a network's wireless password is required.
      6. The Nintendo Switch will test the Internet connection. Once the test is complete, select OK to complete the process.

  2. From the HOME Menu, select the icon for the software you wish to update without starting the game or application.
  3. Press the + Button or – Button on your controller. The current version number will display under the software title.
  4. Select Software Update followed by Via the Internet.

Latest update: Ver. 1.2.0 (Released June 3, 2025)

The following updates have been made when playing the game on Nintendo Switch 2:

General

  • Added support for GameShare.
    • Party Mode content can be played with up to 4 users.
    • The user who will host the GameShare session should select “GameShare” on the mode selection screen after launching the software. They can then choose to use GameShare with Local Users or with GameChat members.

Past updates

  • Ver. 1.1.0 (Released December 23, 2021)
    General
    • Added a setting to restrict pictures of things like bugs in Fast Focus, Super Fast Focus, Speed Sorting, and Super Speed Sorting in each mode.
      • After selecting a user, you can go to Options → Creepy Crawlies, and then choose to either Remove or Leave As Is.
      • In Party, you can choose whether to restrict the display of these pictures after you select the users that will participate.
      Note
      • If you restrict the display of these pictures, the variety within those activities will be reduced.
      • If you restrict the display of these pictures, only Ghosts who have also restricted the display will appear in Ghost Clash for Fast Focus, Super Fast Focus, Speed Sorting, and Super Speed Sorting.

    • Moved the ‘Secret’ button, which hides your age, on the screen where you input your age to a position where it’s easier to find. If you’ve already created user data, you can select your user and go to the Options → Age screen and select the ‘Secret’ button.
    • Added a display when you haven’t been issued a Ghost ID for how to obtain one at the top screen of Ghost Clash.
    • Fixed an issue in Ghost Clash in which the opponent’s Ghost would stop moving.
    • Fixed several other issues to improve the gameplay experience.
