How to Update Miitopia

Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo Switch - OLED Model

Follow these steps to update Miitopia, or review the software's update history.

Note
  • This update must be applied in order to use the game’s Internet features.
  • A Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use the game's online features.
  • Save data will still be available for use after downloading the update.
  • The update will download and install automatically if the console is connected to the Internet and the Software Auto-Updates setting is enabled on your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console. On May 25, 2021, a new software update for Miitopia became available for download. Please take a moment to download and install this update while your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console is connected to the Internet.

Complete these steps

  1. Connect your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console to the internet.
    • How to connect Nintendo Switch 2 to a wireless home network
      1. Place the Nintendo Switch 2 console within 10 feet of the wireless router so there will be a strong wireless signal.

      4. Select the appropriate network name (SSID) from the list.
      5. Use the onscreen keyboard to enter the network's wireless password, if one is required. Entering wireless network password using on-screen keyboard in the System Settings on Nintendo Switch 2
      6. The connection will be tested. Once the test is complete, select OK.
        • If the connection test fails, an error code and message will appear. Search for our support article on the error code for steps to troubleshoot the connection.

    • How to connect Nintendo Switch to a wireless home network
      1. Place the Nintendo Switch console within 10 feet of the wireless router to ensure a strong wireless signal.
      2. Select Settings from the HOME Menu System Settings icon highlighted on the HOME Menu Screen on the Nintendo Switch console.
      3. Select Internet, and then Internet Settings Internet is selected on the System Settings menu on the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch will automatically search for near-by Wi-Fi signals.
      4. Select the appropriate network name (SSID) from the list.
      5. If prompted, use the onscreen keyboard to enter the network's wireless password Onscreen keyboard displayed when a network's wireless password is required.
      6. The Nintendo Switch will test the Internet connection. Once the test is complete, select OK to complete the process.

  2. From the HOME Menu, select the icon for the software you wish to update without starting the game or application.
  3. Press the + Button or – Button on your controller. The current version number will display under the software title.
  4. Select Software Update followed by Via the Internet.

Latest update: Ver. 1.0.3 (Released May 25, 2021)

General

  • Added support for the Power-Up Band (amiibo).
    • If you show the Power-Up Band to the Nintendo Fan, you will get a character outfit.

  • Ver. 1.0.2 (Released May 20, 2021)

    • Fixed an issue when selecting a Mii character for your party in which Mii characters from save data would disappear under certain conditions.
    • Fixed an issue in which Mii characters shared online would occasionally not be accessible to other players.
  • Ver. 1.0.1 (Released May 20, 2021)

    General

    • Fixed an issue in which the game would hard lock if Parental Controls were temporarily removed at a particular timing.
    • Fixed an issue in which the player would lose their game progress if they opened the HOME Menu and closed the game under certain circumstances.
      • If this issue already has already occurred for you, this update will allow you to resume your progress.
    • Fixed several other issues to improve the gameplay experience.
