Download Code Is Lost or Missing

What to do

Choose how you purchased your download code.

• Nintendo eShop Card

  Check the back of your Nintendo eShop card for a scratch-off code area. Some cards sold through retailers do not have a scratch-off code on the card itself – the code is only printed on the receipt you received when you made the purchase.

  Gently scratch off the gray film to find your download code.

  • The card does not have a scratch-off area on the back

  • The prepaid card or download code has been lost

    If the Nintendo eShop card has been lost or misplaced, please review our information for Download Code Is Lost or Missing - Download Code is Lost.

• From Nintendo (Mexico or Brazil only)

  If you reside in Mexico or Brazil and purchased a Nintendo eShop digital gift card for Nintendo eShop funds, please see Nintendo eShop Digital Gift Card Is Lost or Missing.

• Standalone download code from retailer (card or receipt)

  If you purchased a download code directly from a retailer, your code was printed on your purchase receipt. If the receipt with your code has been lost or misplaced, please review the information for Download Code Is Lost or Missing - Retailer Code Receipt Lost or Missing.

• Standalone download code from retailer (code in sealed case)

  If the download code is missing from the case, please contact the game's publisher for support. The publisher's website or contact information is usually listed on the game case.

  If the game is published by Nintendo, please contact us for additional support.

• Physical hardware or software bundle (code was missing from the packaging)

  If a download code was missing from the packaging in a bundle (for example, a Nintendo Switch 2 bundle that included a game download code), please contact us for additional support.

• Digital software bundle

  If your digital purchase includes a bundled or promotional download code, the code can be viewed in your e-mail receipt and in your Nintendo Account Purchase History.

  • If you pre-ordered a game on Nintendo eShop that includes a promotional download code, you will not receive the download code until payment is processed and the game is pre-loaded on your system (no sooner than 7 days before the game's release).
