How to Update Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
Follow these steps to update Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, or review the software's update history.
Note
- This update must be applied in order to use the game's Internet features.
- A Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use the game's online features.
- Save data will still be available for use after downloading the update.
- The update will download and install automatically if the system is connected to the internet and the Software Auto-Updates setting is enabled on your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console. - All players must be using the same version of the software to play together. Please make sure you have the same update version as the person you are playing with.
On September 30, 2025, a new software update for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury became available for download. Please take a moment to download and install this update while your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console is connected to the internet.

How to connect Nintendo Switch 2 to a wireless home network
- Place the Nintendo Switch 2 console within 10 feet of the wireless router so there will be a strong wireless signal.
- Select System Settings from the HOME Menu.
- Select Internet, and then Internet SettingsConfiguración de internetParamètres InternetConfigurações de internet. Your console will automatically search for nearby wireless network signals.
- Select the appropriate network name (SSID) from the list.
- Use the onscreen keyboard to enter the network's wireless password, if one is required.
- The connection will be tested. Once the test is complete, select OK.
- If the connection test fails, an error code and message will appear. Search for our support article on the error code for steps to troubleshoot the connection.

How to connect Nintendo Switch to a wireless home network
- Place the Nintendo Switch console within 10 feet of the wireless router to ensure a strong wireless signal.
- Select Settings from the HOME Menu
on the Nintendo Switch console. - Select Internet, and then Internet Settings
. The Nintendo Switch will automatically search for near-by Wi-Fi signals. - Select the appropriate network name (SSID) from the list.
- If prompted, use the onscreen keyboard to enter the network's wireless password
. - The Nintendo Switch will test the Internet connection. Once the test is complete, select OK to complete the process.

How to connect Nintendo Switch 2 to a wireless home network
- From the HOME Menu, select the icon for the software you wish to update without starting the game or application.
- Press the + Button or – Button on your controller. The current version number will display under the software title.
- Select Software Update followed by Via the Internet.

- Several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience.

The following updates have been made when playing the game on Nintendo Switch 2:
General
- Visuals: Optimized for the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution TVs for improved image quality.
- Frame rate: Optimized for smoother movement on Nintendo Switch 2 (including Bowser's Fury).
- HDR (High Dynamic Range) support for improved image contrast and brightness (Bowser's Fury only).
- Note: HDR-compatible display required when playing in TV mode.
- Added support for GameShare.
- You can play “Super Mario 3D World” with up to four people. Press R on the course select screen for “Local/Online,” and then choose “GameShare + Local Users” or “GameShare + GameChat.”
- In “Bowser's Fury,” two players can play, with one controlling Mario while the other controls Bowser Jr. Once you can control Mario, press the + button to open “Menu,” and then choose “Local/Online,” and then choose “GameShare + Local Users” or “GameShare + GameChat.”
