How to Update Pokémon HOME

Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo Switch - OLED Model, Pokémon HOME

Follow these steps to update Pokémon HOME, or review the software's update history.

Note
  • This update must be applied in order to use the game’s Internet features.
  • Save data will still be available for use after downloading the update.
  • The update will download and install automatically if the console is connected to the Internet and the Software Auto-Updates setting is enabled on your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console. To ensure you have space to download the update, please review our storage tips for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

On April 1, 2026, a new software update for Pokémon HOME became available for download. Please take a moment to download and install this update while your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console is connected to the Internet.

Complete these steps

  1. Connect your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console to the internet.
    • How to connect Nintendo Switch 2 to a wireless home network
      1. Place the Nintendo Switch 2 console within 10 feet of the wireless router so there will be a strong wireless signal.

      4. Select the appropriate network name (SSID) from the list.
      5. Use the onscreen keyboard to enter the network's wireless password, if one is required. Entering wireless network password using on-screen keyboard in the System Settings on Nintendo Switch 2
      6. The connection will be tested. Once the test is complete, select OK.
        • If the connection test fails, an error code and message will appear. Search for our support article on the error code for steps to troubleshoot the connection.

    • How to connect Nintendo Switch to a wireless home network
      1. Place the Nintendo Switch console within 10 feet of the wireless router to ensure a strong wireless signal.
      2. Select Settings from the HOME Menu System Settings icon highlighted on the HOME Menu Screen on the Nintendo Switch console.
      3. Select Internet, and then Internet Settings Internet is selected on the System Settings menu on the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch will automatically search for near-by Wi-Fi signals.
      4. Select the appropriate network name (SSID) from the list.
      5. If prompted, use the onscreen keyboard to enter the network's wireless password Onscreen keyboard displayed when a network's wireless password is required.
      6. The Nintendo Switch will test the Internet connection. Once the test is complete, select OK to complete the process.

  2. From the HOME Menu, select the icon for the software you wish to update without starting the game or application.
  3. Press the + Button or – Button on your controller. The current version number will display under the software title.
  4. Select Software Update followed by Via the Internet.

  • Compatibility with Pokémon Legends: Z-A
  • Compatibility with Pokémon Champions
    • You will be able to link with Pokémon Champions once it has been released.
  • Compatibility with Latin American Spanish
    • You will be able to change the language registered to your user profile to Latin American Spanish only when you start the mobile device version of the app for the first time after updating to version 4.0.0. If your app closes while in the process of changing your language, you'll be prompted to confirm your language change the next time you open the app.
  • Added Research Tasks for additional games

    Updated content
    • Added compatibility with The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero - Part 1: The Teal Mask DLC for the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game.
    The following issues have also been addressed:
    • There was a chance that the effects of items that change a Pokemon’s Ability were not reflected in other software. For more details about this issue, please check the “News” section in the mobile version of Pokémon HOME.
    • A number of other issues have been addressed to help ensure a more user-friendly experience.

    • Added a function allowing players to trade Pokémon HOME points for LP (League Points)
    • Added a feature allowing players to change a Pokémon’s moves from the Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon HOME
      • When bringing a Pokémon from Pokémon HOME into a linked game, players will now be able to change the moves it knows from among a list of moves it has learned up to that point (with some exclusions).
    • Added the ability to view Pokémon details by software title.
      • This feature allows players to view information about a Pokémon from games they’ve been in previously. In the Nintendo Switch version, this feature is accessible while viewing your Pokémon HOME boxes. In the mobile device version, this feature is accessible while viewing a Pokémon’s information. Only titles compatible with the Nintendo Switch version are supported.
  • Ver. 2.0.2 (Released September 20, 2022)
    • Addressed an issue related to connection to the server.
  • Ver. 2.0.1 (Released May 26, 2022)
    • Fixed an issue in which certain users encountered an error ("Error code: 10015") when selecting "Save changes and exit" from the Boxes menu while linking to a game. Affected users who encountered the "Error code: 10015" error while the issue was present (from May 17, 2022, at 11:00pm PDT to May 26, 2022, at 6:00pm PDT) and enrolled in the Premium Plan at the time will receive an extension to their Premium Plan subscription.
      • Users who are eligible for the extension but are currently enrolled in the Basic Plan will be given 10 days of Premium Plan service starting from when they next log in.
      • Users who are eligible for the extension and are currently enrolled in the Premium Plan will have 10 days of Premium Plan service added to their plan’s current expiration date. (Your plan’s original expiration date will continue to be displayed. The extension will be applied once the current plan expires.)

  • Ver. 1.2.1 (Released December 8, 2020)
    • For some Pokémon that are transferred from Pokémon GO, we have added a process where "moves that originally shouldn't be learned" are forgotten and "moves that should originally be learned" are learned.
      • This processing has been added to handle the issue that was occurring between November 11-16, 2020 where "Pokémon that were being transferred from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME could learn "moves" that they were originally not supposed to learn". (The issue that was causing this problem has already been fixed.)
      • In order to perform this process, there is a need to link the "Pokémon Sword/Shield" and "Pokémon HOME" where the target Pokémon exists and to save the game data.
    • We also fixed a number of issues so that gameplay is more enjoyable.
  • Ver. 1.2.0 (Released October 22, 2020)
  • Ver. 1.1.1 (Released June 30, 2020)
    • Fixed a bug about Pokémon not being registered to the Isle of Armor Pokédex when taking Pokémon from Pokémon HOME to Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield.
      • After downloading the update data, connect Pokémon HOME to Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield and save in Pokémon HOME to register the Pokémon that was not registered in Pokédex.
  • Ver. 1.1.0 (Released June 16, 2020)
    • Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass # 1 "The Isle of Armor" is now supported.
  • Ver. 1.0.1 (Released March 17, 2020)
    • Fixed several issues to improve gameplay experience.
