How to Update Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo Switch - OLED Model

Follow these steps to update Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, or review the software's update history.

Note
  • Save data will still be available for use after downloading the update.
  • The update will download and install automatically if the system is connected to the internet and the Software Auto-Updates setting is enabled on your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console. On March 25, 2026, a new software update for Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker became available for download. Please take a moment to download and install this update while your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console is connected to the internet.

Complete these steps

  1. Connect your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console to the internet.
    • How to connect Nintendo Switch 2 to a wireless home network
      1. Place the Nintendo Switch 2 console within 10 feet of the wireless router so there will be a strong wireless signal.

      4. Select the appropriate network name (SSID) from the list.
      5. Use the onscreen keyboard to enter the network's wireless password, if one is required. Entering wireless network password using on-screen keyboard in the System Settings on Nintendo Switch 2
      6. The connection will be tested. Once the test is complete, select OK.
        • If the connection test fails, an error code and message will appear. Search for our support article on the error code for steps to troubleshoot the connection.

    • How to connect Nintendo Switch to a wireless home network
      1. Place the Nintendo Switch console within 10 feet of the wireless router to ensure a strong wireless signal.
      2. Select Settings from the HOME Menu System Settings icon highlighted on the HOME Menu Screen on the Nintendo Switch console.
      3. Select Internet, and then Internet Settings Internet is selected on the System Settings menu on the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch will automatically search for near-by Wi-Fi signals.
      4. Select the appropriate network name (SSID) from the list.
      5. If prompted, use the onscreen keyboard to enter the network's wireless password Onscreen keyboard displayed when a network's wireless password is required.
      6. The Nintendo Switch will test the Internet connection. Once the test is complete, select OK to complete the process.

  2. From the HOME Menu, select the icon for the software you wish to update without starting the game or application.
  3. Press the + Button or – Button on your controller. The current version number will display under the software title.
  4. Select Software Update followed by Via the Internet.

Latest update: Ver. 1.4.2 (Released March 25, 2026)

    The following updates have been made when playing the game on Nintendo Switch 2:

    • Visuals: Optimized for the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution TVs for improved image quality.
    • HDR (High Dynamic Range) support for improved image contrast and brightness.
      • Note: HDR-compatible display required when playing in TV mode.
    • Added support for GameShare.
      • Two people can play all the courses, and each person can have their own unique display that is easier to see.
      • The person sharing can press the - button on the title screen or course select screen or go to "Partner Adventure" in the pause menu and select "GameShare + Local Play" or "GameShare + GameChat."

    • Support has been added for Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04：VR Kit Toy-Con VR Goggles. You can start the game from VR on the Title Screen.
