How to Link a Nintendo Account to Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch

Steps to connect a Nintendo Account to an existing user account on Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch.
Before you start
- You will need a user account on your console.

Add a new user account on Nintendo Switch 2
- Select System Settings on the HOME Menu.
- Scroll down to highlight Users.
- Select Add User.
- Select Add Without Signing In.
- This will create a user account that is not linked to a Nintendo Account. If you already have a Nintendo Account, you can instead select Sign In to a Nintendo Account and sign in to your Nintendo Account to copy your user icon and information from your previous user accounts.
- Select the icon for your user account from those displayed, or select Create an Icon for more options.
- Enter a nickname when prompted.
- Select OK.
- Select OK again to confirm.
- Note that if you want to use your system's online features, you will need to link a Nintendo Account to your user account.

- Select System Settings on the HOME Menu.
- Scroll down to highlight Users, then Add User.
- Select Next.
- Select the icon you would like to have associated with your account.
- Enter a nickname when prompted.
- Select OK.
- Select OK again to confirm.
- You will be given the option to link a Nintendo Account to your user account, or proceed without linking a Nintendo Account. If you want to use your system's online features, you will need to link a Nintendo Account.

- To link a Nintendo Account for a child whose age makes them subject to verifiable parental consent laws, the account must first be created through the parent or guardian’s Nintendo Account.

- Select System Settings on the HOME Menu.
- Scroll down to highlight UsersUsuariosUtilisateursUsuários, then select the user you want to link to to access the Profile Settings.
- Select Sign in to a Nintendo Account or Link Nintendo Account.
- Sign in to your Nintendo Account.
- If you've forgotten your Nintendo Account sign-in information, you can recover or reset your sign-in information.
- Select Link to link your Nintendo Account to the user account on the console.
- Once the Nintendo Account is linked, it cannot be unlinked or changed for that user account.
- Click OK on the confirmation message to return to the system settings.

How to create a new Nintendo Account and link it
- Select System Settings on the HOME Menu.
- Scroll down to highlight UsersUsuariosUtilisateursUsuários, then select the appropriate user account to access the Profile Settings.
- Select Sign in to a Nintendo Account or Link Nintendo Account.
- Select Create a new account.
- Optional: You have the option to select Send account-creation instructions via email to receive steps to link your Nintendo Account with a confirmation code. You can learn more about adding an account with a confirmation code or continue with these steps.
- Use a smart device to scan the QR code to visit the Nintendo Account website. If you do not have a smart device, the link is https://accounts.nintendo.com/.
- Create your Nintendo Account on the Nintendo Account website.
- Return to your Nintendo Switch console and Sign in to your Nintendo Account. You may need to press the B button to return to the sign-in page.
- If you have forgotten your Nintendo Account sign-in information, you can recover or reset your sign-in information.
- Click OK on the confirmation message to return to the system settings.

- Once a Nintendo Account is linked to a user, you will have access to the system's online features.

Each individual player on Nintendo Switch 2 can create their own user account (up to 8 per system) to manage personal settings and save data.
Linking a Nintendo Account to a user account also provides access to the following online features:

- Any applications that require Internet access (including Nintendo eShop)
- Nintendo Switch Parental Controls application to manage parental controls through your smart device
