How to Create a Mii on Nintendo Switch

Steps for how to make or add a Mii character for the Nintendo Switch console.

Before you start

You will need your Nintendo Switch console.

Complete these steps

  1. From the HOME Menu, select System Settings.System Settings highlighted on the Nintendo Switch HOME Menu screen.
  2. Scroll down the options on the left and select Mii, then Create/Edit a Mii.
  3. Select Create New MiiCreate New Mii option highlighted on the Mii Option screen. and choose from one of the available options.

Which method would you like to use to create your Mii?

  • Start from scratch
    1. Select the genderMii Female Gender highlighted on the Start from Scratch screen for your Mii character.
    2. Use the left control stick or the D-pad on the left Joy-Con to navigate through the different physical features for your Mii character, such as face, eyebrows, nose, facial hair, etc. Use the right Joy-Con to select an option.The Face option highlighted on the physcial feature screen.
    3. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter a nickname for your Mii, then select OK or press the + Button on the right Joy-Con.
      • Nicknames can be up to 10 characters long.
    4. When you are finished creating your Mii, press Done.
  • Choose a Look-Alike
    1. Select the genderMii Female Gender highlighted on the Start from Scratch screen for your Mii character, then choose an available Mii from the screen.A Look-Alike character highlighted on the Choose a Look-Alike screen.
      • To view additional characters, press the Y Button or select More Options.
    2. Click Next to edit the Mii you selected.
    3. Use the left control stick or the D-pad on the left Joy-Con to navigate through the different physical features for your Mii character, such as face, eyebrows, nose, facial hair, etc. Use the right Joy-Con to select an option.The Face option highlighted on the physcial feature screen.
    4. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter a nickname for your Mii, then select OK or press the + Button on the right Joy-Con.
      • Nicknames can be up to 10 characters long.
    5. When you are finished editing your Mii, press Done.
  • Copy Mii from amiibo
    1. Hold an amiibo to the NFC touchpoint on the right Joy-Con.An amiibo held to the NFC touchpoint shown on the Copy Mii from amiibo screen.
    2. Remove the amiibo once the message “Copied Mii” is displayed on the screen.

Additional information

Up to 100 Mii characters can be stored on a single Nintendo Switch console.
