How to Charge the Wii U GamePad

In this article, you'll learn how to charge the Wii U GamePad.

Note
  • The optimal charging temperature is between 50 degrees and 95 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees to 35 degrees Celsius).
  • It can take up to 2.5 hours to charge the Wii U GamePad. This time will vary if the GamePad is being used.
  • Once fully charged, the battery will remain charged for 3 to 5 hours depending on use.

Complete these steps

  1. Are you using a Wii U GamePad Cradle?
    1. Ensure you are using a licensed product.
    2. Place the cradle on a flat, stable surface.
    3. Make sure that the AC Adapter connector plug is facing in the correct direction before inserting it into the charging cradle.
    4. Insert the AC Adapter connector plug straight all the way into the Wii U GamePad Cradle.
    5. Place the Wii U GamePad gently into the Wii U GamePad Cradle.
    6. Plug the AC Adapter into a working wall outlet or power strip.
      • The battery LED will light orange when the battery is charging.

    1. Ensure you are using a licensed product (WUP-011).
    2. Make sure that the AC Adapter connector plug is facing in the correct direction before inserting it into controller.
    3. Insert the AC Adapter connector plug straight all the way into the AC Adapter connector.
    4. Plug the AC Adapter into a working wall outlet or power strip.
      • The battery LED will light orange when the battery is charging.
