How to Connect a Nintendo 3DS Family System to the Internet Using Wi-Fi Protected Setup

Nintendo 3DS

In this article, you'll learn how to connect online using Wi-Fi Protected Setup

Note
  • Certain routers support the "Wi-Fi Protected Setup" function, which allows you to quickly and easily configure the wireless devices you wish to connect to your router.
  • To determine if your router supports this feature, look for the Wi-Fi Protected Setup logo (two arrows). It usually appears on a button at the back or bottom of the router. Alternatively, you may also refer to the instruction manual of your access point for further information.

Complete these steps

  1. Locate the WPS button on the router to ensure the router supports this feature (you will also need to push this button during a later step).
    • If you are unable to find this, refer to the instruction manual of your access point for further information
  2. From the HOME menu, tap on the System Settings Icon.

  7. Tap Wi-Fi Protected Setup.
  8. Tap Push-Button Connection.
  9. On the wireless access point, press and hold the WPS button until the LED blinks.
  10. The Nintendo 3DS will now perform a connection test.
    • If the connection test fails, select OK to receive an error code and detailed information on why the connection test failed. You can search this error code within Navi.
  11. If the connection test is successful, select OK to continue.
  12. If you have not previously updated your Nintendo 3DS console, you may be asked to perform a system update. Select Update to perform the system update, or select Cancel to skip this process.
    • We recommend performing the system update as this will ensure you have access to recently released applications and services.
