Use this article when you are unable to link a Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo Account.
Important: If you see an error message that says that your country of residence doesn't match, please reference our troubleshooting guide to address the issue.
What to do
- Make sure you're following the correct steps to link your Nintendo Network ID.
- Use the "Forgot your NNID?" or "Forgot your password?" links on the screen if you do not remember your NNID sign-in information.
- Check if one of the following issues applies:
- You cannot link accounts if the date of birth listed for the NNID does not match the date of birth for the Nintendo Account you're trying to link to.
- You cannot link accounts if the country of residence setting for the NNID does not match the country setting of the Nintendo Account you're trying to link to.
- You cannot link a Nintendo Network ID if it is set to restrict off-device usage. Access your NNID settings on a Wii U or Nintendo 3DS family system and verify that the NNID is set to allow Usage from PCs and Other Devices (Wii U) or Non-Nintendo Device Setting (Nintendo 3DS).
