How To Delete Your Town (Animal Crossing: New Leaf)

In this article, you'll learn how to delete all save data and create a new town.

What to do

  1. From the Title Screen, press the A Button.
  2. Select Continue and choose the name of your character.
  3. Isabelle will load your town and remind you of the date and time. Select I need help first.
  4. Select Re-create the town followed by This is what I want.
  5. The next options will change depending on whether your town’s Prestige Level is high enough to be sold.
  1. Does Isabelle ask if you want to become mayor of a new town?
    1. This means that your town’s level is high enough to sell to Tom Nook in exchange for Bells. Select I want a new town to continue.
    2. Tom Nook will appear and offer to purchase your town. Select Appraise it!
    3. Tom Nook will ask if you want to sell the town catalog as well. Select Sell catalog or Don’t sell catalog.
      • Sell catalog - You will receive more Bells from Tom Nook if you sell the catalog, but you will no longer have access to the items in your new game.
      • Don’t sell catalog – You will receive less Bells from Tom Nook, but you will have access to all of your catalog items at the beginning of your new game.
    4. Select whether to receive the amount in a Lump sum (all at once) or Installments (100 daily payments, with interest).
    5. Follow the remaining onscreen instructions to complete the process and delete your current town. Once the town is deleted, it cannot be recovered.
    1. This means that your town’s level isn’t high enough to sell to Tom Nook for Bells. Tom Nook is not going to appear and make you an offer. Only proceed if you want to permanently delete the town and start over.
    2. Select Delete It! to delete the town. Once the town is deleted, it cannot be recovered.
