How to Register an Email for Use with Parental Controls

In this article, you'll learn how to register an email address for use with parental controls.

Note: You must be connected online to configure an email address for use with parental controls.

It is highly recommended that you register an email for use with parental controls as it will allow you to conveniently acquire a PIN-resetting master key in the event that you forget both your PIN and secret question.

What to do

  1. Is this your first time setting up a Mii on the Nintendo 3DS?
    1. From the HOME menu, select the System Settings icon and tap Open.
    2. On the upper screen, check that the version number listed is Ver. 7.2.0-17U or higher.
    3. Select Parental Controls from the System Settings menu.
    4. Tap Change and enter your PIN.
    5. Tap Register an Email Address.
    6. Tap Register and enter your e-mail address twice.
      • The system will connect online to register the email address. A confirmation email will be sent and should be received within 1 hour.
