Which downloadable content are you having trouble with?

• Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack

  Important: The enhanced features available in Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition are only available when playing on Nintendo Switch 2. Even if you have purchased the upgrade pack, it cannot be downloaded on Nintendo Switch.

  1. Restart the console.
     • How to restart a Nintendo Switch 2 console
       1. Press and hold the POWER Button for at least three seconds.

       3. Select Restart.
  2. Ensure the console has been updated to the latest system menu version.

       1. Select System Settings on the HOME Menu.
       2. Scroll down to the bottom of the System Settings menu and select System.
       3. Select System Update to start the system update process.
          • The system will check to see if an update is available.

  3. Update the software to the latest version.
     • How to update game software
       1. Ensure the console is connected to the Internet.
       2. From the HOME Menu, select (but do not start) the icon for the software you wish to update.
       3. Press the + Button or – Button on your controller, then select Software Update followed by Via the Internet.

  4. Open Nintendo eShop and search for the Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack to confirm that it displays as "Purchased".
     • A cost is displayed instead of "Purchased"

       This means the upgrade pack has not been purchased yet, or another user owns the upgrade pack. Follow our steps for how to upgrade software to Nintendo Switch 2 Edition to purchase and download it.

  5. Select the Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack from the search results.
  6. Select the Virtual Game Cards option on the right.
  7. Ensure the virtual game card for the upgrade pack is loaded on your system. If you have the Online License setting enabled, you can also download the upgrade pack separately.
     • How to load a virtual game card
       1. Select Virtual Game Cards Tarjetas de juego virtuales Cartes de jeu virtuelles Cartões de jogo virtuais from the HOME Menu.
       2. Select your user.
       3. If prompted, enter your user verification PIN or enter your Nintendo Account password.
       4. Select the game you want to load from the list of your virtual game cards.

       6. If not already downloaded, the icon for the game will appear on the HOME Menu and it will begin downloading. Once downloaded, all users on the console where the game is loaded can play the game.

       1. Enable the "Online License" setting for your Nintendo Account:
          1. Select your user icon from the HOME Menu.

  8. Confirm that the software icon on the HOME Menu and the name of the software above it include "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition".

  1. Does the software icon on the HOME Menu show the updated Nintendo Switch 2 Edition logo?

     If the updated logo and title does not appear on the software icon on the HOME Menu, then the upgrade pack is not currently downloaded on the system, or the User selected does not have access to it.

  3. 1. Remove the game card.
        • How to remove a game card from a Nintendo Switch 2 console
          Important: Remove a game card only while on the HOME Menu, or when the console is powered off. If you have suspended a software title, make sure you have closed it before removing its game card.

          1. Open the game card slot cover located on the top right side of your Nintendo Switch 2 console.
          2. Gently push down on the inserted game card until the card clicks.
          3. Release the game card and it will partially eject.
          4. Slide the game card out of the game card slot and close the cover.

     2. Delete the software data (not the save data).

          1. From the HOME Menu, select System Settings.
          2. Scroll down the options on the left and select Data Management.
          3. On the right-hand side select Manage Software, then select the software you would like to delete.
          4. Select Delete Software. The software and icon will be deleted from the HOME Menu. It can be redownloaded using the Nintendo Account that purchased it.

     3. Reinsert the game card.
        • How to insert a game card into a Nintendo Switch 2 console
          1. Open the game card slot cover located on the top right side of your Nintendo Switch 2 console.
          2. Hold the game card so that the label of the game card faces in the same direction as the Nintendo Switch 2 screen.
          3. Slide the game card into the game card slot until it clicks into place. If the game card seems difficult to insert, remove it and verify that it is facing in the correct direction.
          4. Once inserted, the software icon of the inserted game card will be displayed on the HOME Menu.

• Mega Dimension DLC

  This DLC includes two parts:

  • Holo-X and Holo-Y apparel items can be claimed after unlocking the Outfit & Looks menu.
  • Additional story content, including Mega Stones for Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y, is playable after completing Pokémon Legends: Z-A's main story.

  10. On the title screen, there should be a "Downloadable content ready" icon indicating the DLC is installed. As you progress through the story, each part of the DLC will become available.
      • When you are able to play the additional story content, you'll be prompted to head to the Hotel Z rooftop to start a new side mission.

     3. Make sure your game is updated to the latest version.
        • How to update game software
          1. Ensure the console is connected to the Internet.
          2. From the HOME Menu, select (but do not start) the icon for the software you wish to update.
          3. Press the + Button or – Button on your controller, then select Software Update followed by Via the Internet.

     4. Start Pokémon Legends: Z-A from the HOME Menu and select the User that will be playing.
     5. On the title screen, there should be a "Downloadable content ready" icon indicating the DLC is installed. As you progress through the story, each part of the DLC will become available.
        • When you are able to play the additional story content, you'll be prompted to head to the Hotel Z rooftop to start a new side mission.
