Important: The Nintendo Switch 2 console must be docked to be able to connect online using the wired connection type.

        1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the Nintendo Switch 2 dock and then connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to your router or gateway.
        2. Place the Nintendo Switch 2 console into the dock.
        3. On the console, select System Settings on the HOME Menu. The System Settings icon highlighted on the HOME Menu on Nintendo Switch 2

        6. Select Connect to the Internet via Wired Connection.
        7. The connection will be tested. Once the test is complete, select OK.
          • If the connection test fails, an error code and message will appear, which can help you troubleshoot connection errors.
          • We also recommend setting up a wireless internet connection. This enables you to connect online even when your Nintendo Switch 2 is not placed in the dock.
      Important
      • All of the consoles must be connected to the same, shared router to use the LAN Play feature.
      • If your router does not have enough LAN ports for every console you wish to connect, a networking switch can be connected to the router to provide additional LAN ports.
    2. When all of the desired consoles are connected, have a player create a room and act as a host:
      1. Start Mario Kart World from the HOME Menu.
      2. Press the L Button and R Button on the title screen.
      3. Hold the L Button and R Button, and then press the left stick in. If done correctly, the "Wireless Play" option will change to "LAN Play".
      4. Select LAN Play, then select the number of players who will be playing on this system.
      5. If you pick two players, you'll be prompted to select the controller for each player. Most settings will only be available for player 1 to adjust, such as picking courses and opening the map to warp to other areas. One player may also be warped back to the other if you get too far apart.
