How to set up your Nintendo Switch 2 console for the first time.

Complete these steps

  1. Connect the the USB cable to the AC adapter.
  2. Connect the AC adapter to the wall outlet.
  3. Connect the USB-C cable into the USB-C connector on the console. The Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter inserted into both an electrical outlet and the connector on the bottom of the console
  4. Attach both Joy-Con 2 controllers to the Nintendo Switch 2 console. Joy-Con 2 (R) controller being connected to the Nintendo Switch 2 console
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the first-time setup. Some of these settings can be configured later.
    • System language and region settings
      • A system update can be applied to enable Text to Speech after setting up an Internet connection, if you select a supported language. Detailed descriptive steps to reach that point are available.

          Some languages may require an additional download before being supported. This download may take a while to complete.

          • French (France)
          • Spanish (Spain)

          • Korean
    • Internet Settings (optional, but required if performing a system transfer)
    • Time Zone
    • System transfer from Nintendo Switch
      • After performing a system update, if you'd like to enable Text to Speech, press and hold the Y Button on the system transfer screen until a short beeping sounds plays.
    • User registration/Nintendo Account set up
    • Parental Controls (optional)

Additional information

  • Use the provided cables when setting up your Nintendo Switch 2 with the dock. The included Ultra High Speed HDMI cable and AC adapter (Model NGN-01) will ensure your console performs properly.
  • The Nintendo Switch AC adapter can be used when plugged into the Nintendo Switch 2 console directly, but due to differing power outputs, it can not be used with the Nintendo Switch 2 dock to support TV mode.
