GameShare Session Suddenly Ended
Follow these steps if you were playing with friends using GameShare, but the session ended unexpectedly. You may receive one of the following messages:
- "The GameShare session has ended."
- "(Username) ended their GameShare session."
- "The GameShare session ended because there was a problem with the connection to the sharing system."
Note: These error messages can appear if there is a connection issue on either the host or guest system, such as one system being put into sleep mode or airplane mode, or if there is a temporary network issue. Some messages are also caused by closing the software on the host side or manually exiting the GameShare session on the guest side.
Before you start
- If you received an error code, look up the specific error code you received to troubleshoot the issue with your local wireless or internet connection. If you have a smart device, you can scan the QR code that appears with the error code to search for it.
- Visit Nintendo's Network Status page and check for any posted service maintenance or outages.

Possible solutions
Are you using GameShare over local wireless, or over the internet?
-
Local Wireless
- Restart each system by holding down the POWER Button for at least 3 seconds, then select Power Options and then Restart.
- Place the systems between two and three meters apart.
- Remove any metal, glass, or electronic objects between or near the systems.
- Temporarily suspend the use of any nearby devices using wireless communication, such as Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
- Reduce the number of wireless controllers in use. If you are playing in Tabletop mode, attach the Joy-Con 2 controllers to the system. The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller can also be plugged into the system via USB-C cable and used as a wired controller.
- If you are able, try changing which systems are involved in the GameShare session to determine whether one specific system has an issue.
- For example, if three systems are available, try using one system as a host and then starting a GameShare session individually with each of the other systems to see if one of them encounters the issue more frequently.
- Test whether other local wireless features work between the systems, such as adding friends by searching for local users or performing local wireless multiplayer with another game.
Situation not resolved
If you are able to determine that one system is encountering this issue regularly and it prevents you from enjoying GameShare, please set up a service request for the system.
-
Over the internet via GameChat
Note: The host and guests for the GameShare session should go through this troubleshooting with their own systems and network environments.
- Restart the system by holding down the POWER Button for at least 3 seconds, then select Power Options and then Restart.
- Try troubleshooting your download and upload speeds to improve your connection. Your network's NAT Type may also impact your connection to other players in the GameChat room.
- If you're using a wireless connection while using the console in TV Mode, try setting up a wired connection.
- If you are able, try changing which systems are involved in the GameShare session to determine whether one specific system has an issue.
