How to Pair and Manage Bluetooth Audio Devices on Nintendo Switch 2

How to connect, disconnect, and remove saved Bluetooth audio devices on your Nintendo Switch 2 console.
Note
- You may experience audio latency depending on your Bluetooth device.
- Volume changes may occur when using the same Bluetooth audio device across multiple devices including Nintendo Switch 2.
Complete these steps
- Confirm your console has the latest system version.

How to check for the latest system update
- Select System Settings on the HOME Menu.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the System Settings menu and select System.
- Select System Update to start the system update process.
- The system will check to see if an update is available.

How to check for the latest system update
- Follow the path below based on what you want to do.

Pair a new Bluetooth audio device
Important
- Only one Bluetooth audio device can be paired at a time, but up to 10 devices can be saved on a Nintendo Switch 2 console.
- Bluetooth microphones cannot be used.
- Make sure that no more than two wireless controllers are currently connected to your console.
- A pair of Joy-Con 2 counts as two wireless controllers.
- If a controller needs to be disconnected, hold the SYNC Button on the controller for at least one second.
- Turn on your Bluetooth audio device and set it to a searchable state or pairing mode.
- Follow the instructions for your specific Bluetooth audio device on how to enable it to be paired.
- Select System Settings from the HOME Menu.
- Select Bluetooth Audio

- Select Pair Device. The console will search for any available Bluetooth audio devices in range.
- Searching for pairable devices can take several seconds.
- If 10 devices have already been paired and saved to the console, you will need to remove at least one saved device before you can pair a new one.
- Select your Bluetooth audio device’s name.
- Once connected, any audio that is played will be output through your Bluetooth device. Be sure to adjust the console volume to a comfortable level.
- If desired, you can also lower the maximum headphone volume.

Reconnect a saved device
- Turn on your Bluetooth audio device and ensure it is not already connected to another device.
- Your audio device may automatically reconnect to your console when it is turned on and in range. In this case, no further steps are needed; audio will be output through your Bluetooth device.
- Select System Settings from the HOME Menu.
- Select Bluetooth Audio

- Select your device’s name from the list of saved devices.
- Select Connect Device. Once connected, any audio that is played will be output through your Bluetooth device. Be sure to adjust the console volume to a comfortable level.
- You can also lower the maximum headphone volume.
- If your device does not connect, try removing the saved device and pairing it again as a new device.
- Turn on your Bluetooth audio device and ensure it is not already connected to another device.

Disconnect a paired device
While a Bluetooth audio device is paired, you can disconnect it instantly by turning off the device. You can also manually disconnect it through your Nintendo Switch 2 System Settings using the steps below.
- Select System Settings from the HOME Menu.
- Select Bluetooth Audio

- Select your device’s name from the list of saved devices.
- Select Disconnect. Once disconnected, any audio that is played will be output through the console speakers or TV audio, if playing in TV mode.

Remove a saved device
- Select System Settings from the HOME Menu.
- Select Bluetooth Audio

- Select your device’s name from the list of saved devices.
- Select Remove Device.
- Select Unpair to confirm the removal. Once removed, the device’s name will no longer appear in the list of known Bluetooth devices.
- To use the Bluetooth device again, pair it as a new device.
Additional information
- When using a Bluetooth audio device, you can only connect up to two controllers wirelessly. Disconnect the Bluetooth audio device to use more.
- Bluetooth audio will be disconnected during local communication, such as when starting a local wireless multiplayer game.
