Error Code: 9001-3851

Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo Switch - OLED Model

The information in this article can help you when, while trying to use a Nintendo Switch Game Voucher to pre-order a game, you receive the error code 9001-3851 and the message "The Game Voucher license will expire before the release date of the pre-order product."

Information

This error code indicates that all of your current Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers will expire before payment is processed for pre-orders for the title in question (no sooner than 7 days prior to the game’s release date).

For more information about using Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers for pre-orders, please read the Nintendo eShop Pre-Order and Pre-Load FAQ.

Possible solutions

  • If you have a voucher that will expire within the 7 days before the game's release date, you can redeem the voucher at that time. Please keep in mind that release dates may be subject to change.
    • You can check when your vouchers expire in the Nintendo Switch Online section of your Nintendo Account Shop Menu, where each individual voucher will be listed along with its expiry date, or through the Nintendo eShop on your Nintendo Switch:
      1. Launch the Nintendo eShop from the HOME Menu using the Nintendo Account that purchased the vouchers.
      2. Select your User icon in the top-right corner.
      3. Select Nintendo Switch Online in the left menu.
      4. Scroll down to the Nintendo Switch Game Voucher section. Each individual voucher will be listed along with its expiry date.
  • Rather than using a Nintendo Switch Game Voucher, you can also use a different payment method (credit card, PayPal, available Nintendo eShop funds) to pre-order the game.
