How to Purchase or Pre-Order Nintendo eShop Games on Nintendo.com

Complete these steps

1. Visit the Nintendo Store and search for the game you want to purchase.
2. Click the game title in the search results to display additional information about the game.
3. The purchase options will vary depending on whether the game has been released, when it is due to release, or if it is eligible to be redeemed using a Nintendo Switch Game Voucher.

     Games without the "Direct Download", "Pre-order", or "Redeem a Nintendo Switch Game Voucher" options are not available for purchase through the website.

Which purchase option is available?

• Direct download
  1. Select Direct download.
  2. Enter your Nintendo Account sign-in information when prompted.
  3. If you have My Nintendo Gold Points you will be prompted to redeem them towards the purchase price.
     • How to use My Nintendo Gold Points towards the purchase
       • Select Change if you want to adjust the amount of Gold Points to use.
         • Each Gold Point can be redeemed towards the purchase price at rates that depend on the currency the points were earned in.
       • If you have enough Gold Points to complete the purchase, select Next or Redeem Points to continue to the purchase screen.
  4. The remaining amount of the purchase will be deducted from your existing Nintendo eShop account balance. Add additional funds if needed, and click Confirm.
     • How to add funds with a credit card

       To add funds with a credit card, click Credit Card and enter the credit card Name, Number, CVC Number, Card Type, and Expiration Date info into the appropriate fields.

     • How to add funds with a Nintendo eShop Card

       To add funds with a Nintendo eShop Card, click Nintendo eShop Card and enter the 16-character download code from the back of the card.

     • How to add funds with a PayPal account

       To add funds with a PayPal account, link your PayPal Account to your Nintendo Account, then click PayPal.

       • The option to use PayPal is currently available to residents of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico who are 18 years and older.

     • How to use a game coupon

       If you have a game coupon, click Redeem a coupon and follow the onscreen instructions to redeem the coupon.

  5. Click Purchase to complete your order.
  6. You may be prompted to select a console—choose which of your consoles you would like the game to download to.
  7. Your game will automatically download on the console you selected. Once the download is complete, click the game’s icon on your HOME menu to begin playing.

  1. Select Pre-order.
     • If the game is eligible to be redeemed using a Nintendo Switch Game Voucher, you can redeem one of your Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers to pre-order it if you prefer. Select Redeem a Nintendo Switch Game Voucher below for more information.

  2. Enter your Nintendo Account sign-in information when prompted.
  3. Select the payment method you wish to use. Payment will be processed within 7 days of the game's release date. If payment cannot process (for example, there are not enough funds or your credit card has expired), the pre-order will be canceled.
  4. Select Redeem points if you would like to use any My Nintendo Gold Points you may have at the time payment is processed toward the purchase.
     • Notes about redeeming Gold Points for a pre-order
       • It is not possible to select a specific amount of Gold Points to use toward a pre-order. All Gold Points you have at the time of payment will be used, up to the total cost of the purchase.
       • Each Gold Point can be redeemed towards the purchase price at rates that depend on the currency the points were earned in.
  5. Click Confirm to complete your pre-order.
  6. You may be prompted to select a console—choose which of your consoles you would like the game to download to when it becomes available.
  7. Up to 7 days before the game's release, your payment will be processed. If payment is successful, the game will automatically pre-load on the console you selected. You'll be able to start playing it after downloading a small update available at the time the game is released.
• Redeem a Nintendo Switch Game Voucher
  1. Select Redeem a Nintendo Switch Game Voucher.
     • This is located below the "Direct download" or "Pre-order" button.
  2. Enter your Nintendo Account password when prompted.
  3. Select Redeem voucher to confirm the redemption.
  4. You may be prompted to select a console—choose which of your consoles you would like the game to download to.
  5. If the game has been released, it will automatically download on the console you selected. Once the download is complete, select the game’s icon on your HOME menu to begin playing.
     • If the game is one that is available for pre-order, the voucher will not actually be redeemed until pre-order payments are collected—no sooner than 7 days prior to the game’s release date.
