Volume is Too Low or High While Using Bluetooth Audio on Nintendo Switch

Steps for when you are using a Bluetooth audio device (headphones, earbuds, speakers, etc.) connected to your Nintendo Switch, but the audio is too quiet or too loud.

  • Volume changes may occur when using the same Bluetooth audio device across multiple devices including Nintendo Switch.

Possible solutions

  • Adjust the volume on your Nintendo Switch system using the Volume + and – buttons. Nintendo Switch console with POWER Button and volume buttons highlighted
  • Try to adjust the volume controls on the device directly, if possible.
    • Many Bluetooth audio devices include their own volume controls which determine the audio output volume.
    • Refer to the audio device’s instruction manual or manufacturer’s support for guidance.
  • Set the Lower Max Headphone Volume in System Settings to On or Off to either decrease or increase the possible volume output.
  • Check if there are sound/music settings within the game you are playing and adjust them as needed.

Situation not resolved

Try pairing a different Bluetooth audio device or using a wired audio device. Bluetooth audio devices can vary in audio quality and possible volume.
