How to Calibrate the Outer Cameras Automatically

Nintendo 3DS

In this article, you'll learn how to calibrate the two outer cameras.

Note
  • If Parental Controls are set up to restrict the 3D feature, proper calibration cannot be completed.
  • Manual Calibration should only be used if Automatic Calibration is unavailable.
  • If you are using this feature with the Nintendo 2DS, you will not be able to view any of the images in 3D. You must test images on a Nintendo 3DS to see if they are working properly. 3D images viewed on the Nintendo 2DS will appear blurry, split, or overlapped.

Complete these steps

  1. Select the System Settings icon on the HOME Menu and tap Open.
  2. Tap Other Settings.
  3. Tap Outer Cameras.
  4. Move the 3D Depth Slider to its highest position and tap Next.
    • Skip this step if using a Nintendo 2DS.
  5. Tap Automatic Setup.
  6. Tap Next and center the cameras on an unobstructed subject that is 65 feet (20 meters) or father away.
    • For best results:
      • Ensure the subject is brightly light.
      • Try finding an outdoor subject or object if you are in a room smalled than 65 ft.
      • Ensure the subject can be easily distinguished from the background objects.
  7. When the three dots on the upper screen light up, the camera will automatically calibrate.
  8. Next, focus the camera on an unobstructed subject close-by.
  9. Adjust the Nintendo 3DS system's distance from the subject until the image on the upper screen is clear and in 3D.
    • If using this feature on a Nintendo 2DS, the image will not appear clear or in 3D. It will be hard to determin the correct distance if using a Nintendo 2DS.
  10. Tap OK when the image is clear to save the settings and exit calibration.
