What Do I Need to Connect Online?
Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, Wii & Wii mini, Nintendo DSi
What you need to connect to the Internet:
- A broadband Internet connection (Cable, DSL, FIOS). Many services work best when using an Internet connection with speeds of 1Mbps or more.
- Cellular (e.g.3G or 4G) and satellite Internet services are not recommended as users may experience performance issues, including the inability to use some features or latency during online play
- If you are using a public network (dorm, apartment, etc), please contact the network administrator regarding details on connecting gaming systems online over their network.
- A wireless router that is connected to the broadband Internet connection. Most people already have a wireless router that they use to connect other devices online from home. Learn more about how to identify your wireless router.
- If you are connecting a Wii or Wii U online, you may also use the Wii LAN adapter and an Ethernet cable to connect online with a wired router or modem.
- Wireless ad hoc networks are not supported.
