How to Change the Wireless Security (Password) Settings on Nintendo 3DS family systems

In this article, you'll learn how to change the Nintendo 3DS security settings.

Complete these steps

  1. From the Nintendo 3DS HOME menu, highlight and select the Settings icon.
  2. System Settings icon being selected on the HOME Menu Screen
  3. Select Internet Settings.
  4. Internet Settings option being selected on the System Settings Screen
  5. Select Connection Settings.
  6. Connection Settings option being selected on the Internet Settings Screen
  7. The top screen will display the name of the different networks you have set connections up with. Select the corresponding number on the bottom screen.
  8. Select Change Settings.
  9. Select Security
  10. Select the security type.
    • The Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL support WEP, WPA-PSK (TKIP), WPA-PSK (AES), WPA2-PSK (AES) and WPA2-PSK (TKIP) security.
    • The Nintendo 2DS and New Nintendo 3DS systems support the same, but without WPA2-PSK (TKIP).
  11. Using the onscreen keyboard, enter the security key and select OK when complete.
  12. Select Save and then OK to save these new settings.
  13. Select Test to perform an Internet connection test.
