How to Enter Network IP Address and DNS Settings on Wii

In this article, you'll learn how to manually enter network IP address and DNS information into a Wii connection file.

Complete these steps

  1. From the Wii menu, select the Wii Button (circle) icon.
  2. Select Wii settings.
  3. Using the arrow on the right side of the screen, move over to the second screen.
  4. Select Internet, followed by Connection Settings.
  5. Select the connection file you wish to edit and then select Change Settings.
  6. Select the arrow on the right twice to reach a screen titled Auto Obtain IP Address.
  7. Select No, then Advanced Settings.
  8. Select IP Address and enter the IP address listed within your PC's network information, however, add 20 to the last digit. For example, if your PC had an IPv4 address listed as 192.168.1.5, this will become 192.168.1.25.
    • With this and all following entries, make sure to include the periods between each number.
  9. Select OK to return to the IP Address screen, then select Subnet Mask and enter the Subnet mask exactly as it appears in your PC.
  10. Select OK to return to the IP Address screen, then select Default Router and then enter the Default Gateway exactly as it appears in the PC.
  11. Select OK followed by Confirm, however, do not select Save.
  12. Select the arrow to the right once more.
  13. Select No then Advanced Settings.
  14. Select Primary DNS and enter 8.8.8.8 followed by OK.
  15. Select Secondary DNS and enter 8.8.4.4 followed by OK.
  16. Select Confirm, Save, and OK. To test the connection.
