Defining the Difference Between Internet and Wireless?

Nintendo DSi

The Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL cannot access the Internet unless you take active steps to connect to it. The Nintendo DSi/Nintendo DSi XL does, however, come pre-installed with wireless communication features, which allow you to chat or share photos with other Nintendo DS system owners on a local wireless connection of up to approximately 65 feet.

Internet Access

The Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL do not come pre-installed with Internet access. To access the Internet through your Nintendo DSi, you must first set up an Internet connection. Learn more. As with any Internet browsing, be cautious before providing personally identifiable information to any third party website. If you decide to provide personally identifiable information to any third party website, the sharing of such information will be subject to the privacy policy of that company, not Nintendo' s privacy policy. You can use parental controls to block access to the Nintendo DSi Browser. This will prevent any browsing of internet websites.

Wireless Communication

With the Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL systems' wireless capabilities you can communicate with up to 15 other Nintendo DS system owners within range of your system (approximately 65 feet). This includes sharing photos with the Nintendo DSi Camera and chatting with PictoChat. With Flipnote Studio™, Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL owners can wirelessly share Flipnotes™ with each other.

In addition, some games may have similar communication features programmed into the game. For information on how a specific game uses wireless communication, please refer to the instruction booklet for that game. You can use parental controls to block sharing of photos and user-generated content.
