How to Use amiibo Figures (Super Mario Odyssey)

Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Nintendo Switch - OLED Model

Follow these steps to use amiibo figures in Super Mario Odyssey.

Before you start

You will need:

  • Your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console
  • Super Mario Odyssey software
  • Compatible amiibo

Complete these steps

  1. After beating a kingdom, speak to Uncle amiibo (a robot near your ship).
  2. Scan any amiibo card or figure when prompted to unlock a costume or power-up.
    • How to Scan amiibo on Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch
      • Touch the amiibo to the NFC touchpoint.
        • On the Joy-Con 2, the NFC touchpoint is located on the right control stick. Amiibo being touched to the NFC touch point of the Joy-Con 2 (R) Right Stick
        • On the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, the NFC touchpoint is located over the Nintendo Switch logo at the top-center of the controller. amiibo being touched to the NFC touch point of the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller
        • On the Joy-Con, the NFC touchpoint is located on the right control stick.Diagram of the left and right Joy-Con controllers
          • Note: Joy-Con controllers can only be used wirelessly with Nintendo Switch 2.
        • On the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, the NFC touchpoint is located over the Nintendo Switch logo at the top-center of the controller.Diagram of the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, 4
          • Note: The NFC touchpoint on Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers are turned off when using a wired connection.
