How to scan an amiibo figure or amiibo card using the Nintendo Switch 2 console.
Complete these steps
- Confirm that your amiibo figure or amiibo card is compatible with the software you're attempting to play.
- Ensure your console has the latest system update.

How to check for the latest system update
- Select System Settings on the HOME Menu.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the System Settings menu and select System.
- Select System Update to start the system update process.
- The system will check to see if an update is available.

How to check for the latest system update
- Start the amiibo-compatible game and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Please note that you may need to look up the software manual for information on where in the game you can use amiibo.
- In order to use amiibo, some games may require a software update.

How to update game software
- Ensure the console is connected to the Internet.
- From the HOME Menu, select (but do not start) the icon for the software you wish to update.
- Press the + Button or – Button on your controller, then select Software Update followed by Via the Internet.

How to update game software
- Touch the amiibo to the NFC touchpoint.
- On the Joy-Con 2, the NFC touchpoint is located on the right control stick.
- On the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, the NFC touchpoint is located over the Nintendo Switch logo at the top-center of the controller.
- On the Joy-Con, the NFC touchpoint is located on the right control stick.
- Note: Joy-Con controllers can only be used wirelessly with Nintendo Switch 2.
- On the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, the NFC touchpoint is located over the Nintendo Switch logo at the top-center of the controller.
- Note: The NFC touchpoint on Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers are turned off when using a wired connection.
- On the Joy-Con 2, the NFC touchpoint is located on the right control stick.
