Important: As of January 31, 2019, the Wii Shop is closed for new purchases and has been discontinued. It is no longer possible to add Nintendo Points or purchase new games in the Wii Shop.
The Wii Shop is an online application on the Wii and Wii U systems. Prior to March 26, 2018, Nintendo Points could be added to the Wii Shop using a credit card (VISA or MasterCard) or Nintendo Points Card. The Points could be used to purchase and download software. All unused Nintendo Points expired on January 30, 2019, and cannot be used after that date. Previously purchased Wii Shop titles can still be re-downloaded on the Wii or Wii U consoles. However, this option will also be discontinued at some point in the future. (Exact date TBD)
