TV Output LED on the Nintendo Switch Dock is Flashing
What to do when the TV Output LED on the front of the Nintendo Switch dock continues to flash or blink.
Note
- When the Nintendo Switch AC adapter is first plugged into the dock, the TV output LED on the front of the dock should flash and then shut off. This is normal.
- While the console is docked and the application screen is displayed on the TV, the TV output LED should remain solid green.
What to do
- Undock your Nintendo Switch console.
- Check that your console has the latest system update installed.

- Select System Settings on the HOME Menu.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the System Settings menu and select System.
- Select System Update to start the system update process.
- The system will check to see if an update is available.

- Restart the console by holding down the POWER Button

Hold down the POWER Button for twelve seconds to force it to shut down, then power on the console again.

- If you are using a Nintendo Switch dock with LAN port, update the firmware for the dock.

- Install the latest system update.
- Select System Settings on the HOME Menu.
- Click System.
- Select Update Dock, then Begin Update to begin updating the dock’s firmware.
- If the update stops before it can be completed, try this step again.

How to update the firmware for the dock
- Unplug the HDMI cable from the dock.
- Unplug the AC adapter from both the wall and dock/console. Leave unplugged for 30 seconds to reset the AC adapter.
- Check that you’re using an undamaged Nintendo Switch AC adapter.

Check AC adapter
- Check the model number to verify you are using the Nintendo Switch AC adapter. The model number can be found on the bottom of the AC adapter, where the cord attaches. It should read MOD. HAC-002 near the top of the text.

- Check the AC adapter for damage. Damage can include frayed or split cord, loose connectors, kinks, etc.
Non-licensed and/or damaged AC adapters may have compatibility problems with your console.
You can purchase replacement Nintendo Switch AC adapters from Nintendo Store.
- Check the model number to verify you are using the Nintendo Switch AC adapter. The model number can be found on the bottom of the AC adapter, where the cord attaches. It should read MOD. HAC-002 near the top of the text.

- Verify you are using the Nintendo Switch dock
(model No. HAC-007) or Nintendo Switch dock with LAN port (model No. HEG-007).

A different accessory or dock is being used
- If a different accessory is being used, replacing it with the licensed dock may resolve the problem.

- Plug the AC adapter back into the outlet then into the dock.
- Connect the HDMI cable back into the dock. Make sure the other end is connected to a TV/monitor.
- Power on the console and place it in the dock
. The console screen should face the same direction as the front panel of the dock.

LED continues to flash
If the TV output LED continues to flash when the console is docked, try testing the console with another dock if possible.
If the issue is resolved by using a second dock, only the problematic dock will need to be serviced. For issues with the dock only, please contact us.

If the issue persists with a second dock, or if another dock is unavailable, the console will need to be serviced. For testing purposes, include the original dock and the AC adapter.
