Error Code: 204910

Wii & Wii mini

The information in this article can help you when:

  • The Wii console failed an Internet connection test.
  • An error code is displayed when attempting to download an item from the Wii Shop Channel.
  • You receive error message, "Unable to connect to the Internet." or "Error occurred when connecting to the Internet."
Note
  • This error code indicates you were disconnected from your network or the online service during use.
  • This may occur due to issues related to wireless interference, a slow internet connection, or a temporary network service disruption.

What to do

  1. Have there been any recent changes to the network? (e.g. a new router was installed, settings were changed on an existing router, or a new ISP is being used.)
    1. Create a new Internet connection to ensure the Wii console is connecting the correct wireless network and receiving a strong wireless signal.
    2. Update the primary DNS within the Wii console's Internet settings to 8.8.8.8, and test the Internet connection again.
    3. Power cycle the home network, and then test the Wii console's Internet connection.
    4. If the issue persists, visit one of the following sites using the web browser of a device connected to your network (other than your Wii) and test your Internet speeds:
      • bandwidthplace.com
      • speedof.me
Once the site loads, select the appropriate option to start the test. Both your download and upload speeds should display after the test completes.
    5. If you find your download is below 1.5Mbps or your upload is below 1Mbps, this indicates the issue is likely related to your Internet service. Please contact your Internet Service Provider, or a network administrator, for further assistance
    6. Check the location and distance of the wireless router to ensure it is not too far away.
      • If the router is more than 100 feet away, or in a different room, move the router closer to the Wii.
      • If the router is low to the ground (on the floor) place it in a higher location.
    7. Connect to the Internet at a different location or access point to attempt the download
