How to Create a Nintendo Account

Complete these steps

1. Go to the Nintendo Account website (accounts.nintendo.com).
2. Select Create a Nintendo Account in the upper-right or towards the bottom of the page.
3. Enter your date of birth and click Submit.
   • Message: Please have your parent or guardian do the next step.

     This message indicates that you are trying to create a Nintendo Account for a child, and verifiable parental consent is required to complete the process. Perform the following:

     1. After submitting your date of birth, you will be redirected to a page requesting your parent/guardian’s email address
     2. Have your parent/guardian enter their email address into the appropriate field and click Submit.
     3. An email will be sent to the parent/guardian’s email address that explains how to set up their own Nintendo Account.
     4. Once they have created their Nintendo Account, they can then create an account for you by adding you to their Nintendo Account family group.
4. Choose how to create your Nintendo Account — by entering your information or by using an existing Google or Apple Account.
   • If you are creating a Nintendo Account through a Nintendo mobile app on an iOS device (such as an iPhone or iPad), you will not be able to create it using a Google Account or Apple Account. You can still link those accounts later after creating your Nintendo Account.

  1. Scroll down to the account information fields and enter the following information:
     • Nickname: Ten characters or less
     • Email address: Your email address can be tied to one Nintendo Account only.
     • Password: Passwords must be at least eight characters long and include a combination of characters from two of the following categories: letters, numbers, and punctuation.
       • Message: The password for this account is not secure.

         If the message "Based on information received from an external source, the password for this account is not secure." appears while you are creating or changing your Nintendo Account password, we suggest using a different password.

     • Date of birth
     • Gender (optional)
     • Country of residence
     • Time zone
  2. Review the Nintendo Account User Agreement and check the box to agree to it.
  3. Review the Nintendo Privacy Policy and check the box to indicate that you have read it.
  4. Select Submit.
     • Message: Please have your parent or guardian do the next step.

       This message indicates that you are trying to create a Nintendo Account for a child, and verifiable parental consent is required to complete the process. Perform the following:

       1. After submitting your date of birth, you will be redirected to a page requesting your parent/guardian’s email address
       2. Have your parent/guardian enter their email address into the appropriate field and click Submit.

  5. A verification code will be sent to the email address you provided within a few minutes. When you receive the email, enter the code into the "Verification code" field and click Verify.
     • Error message: This page cannot be displayed.

       If your verification code has expired, you'll see the message: “This page cannot be displayed. Please start the process over from the beginning.” Please restart the account creation process to get a new verification code — verification codes for Nintendo Account creation expire 24 hours from when they are sent.

     • Verification code never arrived
       1. It may take up to 30 minutes for the verification email to arrive — if it has not yet been 30 minutes, please wait for a while longer to see if the email arrives.
       2. Check your spam/junk email folder to see if the email is there.
       3. Make sure there are no filters in your email account that may be blocking emails from @accounts.nintendo.com.
       4. Add our email address no-reply@accounts.nintendo.com to your contacts address book and safe sender list.
       5. Make sure that you are entering your email address correctly in the account creation screen, then click Resend verification code to have a new verification code email sent.

  6. You're done! You can now use your Nintendo Account to participate in various online services, including the My Nintendo loyalty program.
• I want to use a Google or Apple Account
  1. Select Google or Sign up with Apple.
  2. Enter your login information if needed. Review the site’s terms and, if you agree to them, proceed to create your account.
     • I don’t remember my Google or Apple Account login information

       If you do not remember your login information for the service you want to use, please visit that site's "Help" area for assistance.

  3. Enter the following information:
     • Nickname: Ten characters or less
