How to Format an SD Card

In this article, you'll learn how to format an SD Card.
Important: Formatting the SD card will delete all data on the SD card. You will not be able to recover this data.
What to do
Nintendo recommends using the tool provided by the SD Association to format any SD cards that will be used with a Nintendo product. Nintendo products strictly adhere to the SD Card standard.
Instructions can be found on the format tool page. Please select Overwrite format when formatting the card.
