How to Change Nintendo Network ID Password Settings on Wii U

In this article, you'll learn how to update the password or password settings associated to your Nintendo Network ID.

Complete these steps

  1. On the Wii U, access the User Settings on the Mii that you want to update.
  2. Select Change Password.
  3. Enter the current password associated to your Nintendo Network ID. Select OK twice.
  4. Enter a new password and select OK.
    • The password you choose should be between 6 and 16 characters long.
    • Passwords must use a combination of characters from two of the following categories: letters, numbers, and punctuation.
    • You cannot use the name you chose for your Nintendo Network ID as your password.
    • The same character cannot be used three or more times in a row.
    • For security, you should not use passwords that can be easily guessed or that you have used for other services.
  5. Enter the password again to verify, and select OK twice to confirm.
    • If you would like to save the new password to the system (so that you don't need to use it to log in on the system in the future), select Yes under Save password? in the User Settings.
