Downloading games and applications
Games and applications, including applications for video streaming services, can be downloaded directly to your device.
- Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch: Games and applications can be downloaded from the Nintendo eShop.
- Wii U: The Nintendo eShop was closed to new purchases on March 27, 2023. Previously purchased titles can still be re-downloaded for the foreseeable future.
- Nintendo 3DS family: The Nintendo eShop was closed to new purchases on March 27, 2023. Previously purchased titles can still be re-downloaded for the foreseeable future.
- Wii: The Wii Shop Channel was closed to new purchases on January 30, 2019. Previously purchased titles can still be re-downloaded. However, this option will also be discontinued at some point in the future.
- Nintendo DSi: The Nintendo DSi Shop was closed to new purchases on March 31, 2017. Previously purchased titles can still be re-downloaded. However, this option will also be discontinued at some point in the future.

Nintendo eShop purchases through the Nintendo Store
Most of the games that are available through the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch can also be purchased online through the individual game pages on Nintendo Store. Your game will be automatically downloaded to the system associated to your account.
- A Nintendo Account is required to purchase games through Nintendo's website.
- This feature is currently available to residents of the Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru.
