Understanding Your Virtual Boy Accessories

Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch - OLED Model

Information and set up steps for the Virtual Boy for Nintendo Switch 2/Nintendo Switch and Virtual Boy (Cardboard Model) for Nintendo Switch 2/Nintendo Switch.

Information

There are two versions of the Virtual Boy accessory available for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

  • Virtual Boy for Nintendo Switch 2/Nintendo Switch comes with the Virtual Boy accessory, a stand, and attachment brackets that hold your console in place while using the accessory. Some pieces are removable/replaceable on this version.
  • Virtual Boy (Cardboard Model) for Nintendo Switch 2/Nintendo Switch just includes the cardboard version of the accessory. There are adjustable brackets to hold your console in place while using the accessory.

What to do

  • How to set up Virtual Boy for Nintendo Switch 2

    3. Detach any Joy-Con 2 controllers from your Nintendo Switch 2 console.
      • You will need to use compatible controllers wirelessly.

      • There may be a sound when closing the console cover. This is normal.
    6. Attach the Virtual Boy to the stand.

  • How to set up Virtual Boy for Nintendo Switch
    1. Unscrew and remove the Nintendo Switch 2 attachment bracket on the bottom side of the Virtual Boy. Image highlighting the placement of the screws for the Nintendo Switch 2 attachment bracket.
      • The Virtual Boy will come with the Nintendo Switch 2 attachment bracket pre-installed.

    5. Detach any Joy-Con from your console.
      • You will need to use compatible controllers wirelessly.
    6. Insert your console into the Virtual Boy, with the screen facing the lens side of the accessory.

    8. Attach the Virtual Boy to the stand.

  • How to remove the eye shade

    4. Find the two pegs at the top of Virtual Boy, where the eye shade attaches to the headset. Pull the eye shade off of the mounting posts.     5. Turn the Virtual Boy over and find where the eye shade attaches to the bottom, near the nose piece.

  • How to attach the eye shade

    4. Find the two pegs at the top of Virtual Boy, where the eye shade attaches to the headset. Attach the eye shade to each of the pegs.     6. Turn the Virtual Boy over and find where the eye shade attaches to the bottom, near the nose piece.
    7. Insert the ends of the eye shade into the grooves at the bottom of the Virtual Boy. Image highlighting the grooves by the nose piece.
  • How to set up Virtual Boy (Cardboard Model) for Nintendo Switch 2

      • Line up the ends of the console body up with the ends of the Virtual Boy accessory to ensure it's in place. The placement of the audio jack varies per console model so it shouldn't be used as a guide.

    The Virtual Boy (Cardboard Model) is now ready to use with the Virtual Boy - Nintendo Classics game library on your Nintendo Switch 2.

  • How to set up Virtual Boy (Cardboard Model) for Nintendo Switch

    3. Insert your console into the Virtual Boy, with the screen facing the lens side of the accessory, leading with the side without the Joy-Con.
      • Line up the ends of the console body up with the ends of the Virtual Boy accessory to ensure it's in place. The placement of the audio jack varies per console model so it shouldn't be used as a guide.
