How to Use CameraPlay (Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition)

Follow these steps to use CameraPlay to see your face and/or friends' faces in-game while playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition online with GameChat.

Before you start

  • A compatible USB camera (sold separately), such as the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera, must be connected to the system to use CameraPlay. Make sure to connect the camera before starting or joining a multiplayer session.
  • You must be in a GameChat room to use CameraPlay. Up to four consoles in the GameChat room can be using CameraPlay at one time. Additional players in the GameChat room who are not using their own camera can still view their friends' faces.
  • A Nintendo Switch Online membership and persistent internet connection are required to use GameChat.

Complete these steps

  1. Follow our steps for how to set up an online multiplayer game in Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.
  2. With a compatible USB camera connected to the system, a prompt will appear explaining CameraPlay after you arrive on another player's island or another player arrives on your island.
  3. After reading through the prompt, CameraPlay will begin automatically.

Additional information

You can hide the camera feed in-game (turning off CameraPlay) by pressing the - Button and selecting Stop camera video. It can be turned back on from the same menu by selecting Show camera video.
