Joy-Con 2 Controller Buttons are Not Responding While Attached to Nintendo Switch 2 Console

Nintendo Switch 2

Steps for when the buttons on the Joy-Con 2 controller(s) are unresponsive or don't work as expected while they are attached to the Nintendo Switch 2 console.

What to do

  1. Power off the console and clean the area around any sticky or stuck buttons using a soft, dry toothbrush.

Important: Avoid using any cleaners or fluids.

  2. Power on the console and check that it has the latest system update.
  3. Continue troubleshooting the affected button(s).
  • HOME Button or C Button

Press the HOME Button or C Button while navigating the menus or within a game.

    • The Button still doesn't work

If the Joy-Con 2 is recognized, but the HOME or C Button does not respond correctly, the right Joy-Con 2 controller will need to be serviced. Do not include the console.
