How to Attach/Detach the Joy-Con 2 Controllers to the Joy-Con 2 Grip

Steps for attaching and detaching the Joy-Con 2 controllers to the Joy-Con 2 grip or to the Joy-Con 2 charging grip accessories.

How to attach the Joy-Con 2 controllers to the Joy-Con 2 grip or Joy-Con 2 charging grip.
  1. Orient the Joy-Con 2 grip or Joy-Con 2 charging grip so it's upright and the Nintendo Switch 2 logo is facing you.
  2. Bring the right Joy-Con 2 (controller with + Button) to the right side of the grip.
  3. Align the bottom of the controller close to the grip, then bring the top close to the grip. You will hear a click when it is securely attached.
    • Keep the area between the Joy-Con 2 and the grip clear, being careful not to get your fingers or other body parts pinched.

  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 with the left Joy-Con 2 (controller with - Button).
How to detach the Joy-Con 2 controllers from the Joy-Con 2 grip or Joy-Con 2 charging grip.

Important: After detaching the Joy-Con 2 controllers from the grip, be sure to attach the Joy-Con 2 straps before starting a game or software.

  1. Press the release button on the back of the Joy-Con 2.

  2. While holding the release button down, pull the controller away from the grip to detach it.

Additional information

The Joy-Con 2 grip accessory (model No. BEE-009) included with the Nintendo Switch 2 bundle allows you to combine both Joy-Con 2 into a traditional-style controller.
