Blank Screen or No Image Displayed on the TV on Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo Switch 2

Steps for when your Nintendo Switch 2 won’t wake up from sleep mode while docked or won’t display on the television while docked.

Before you start

You will need:

  • Your Nintendo Switch 2 console
  • Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter (MOD. NGN-01)
    • A Nintendo Switch AC adapter (MOD. HAC-002) does not support TV mode with a Nintendo Switch 2 console.
  • Nintendo Switch 2 dock
  • An Ultra High Speed HDMI cable
  • Access to power outlet

What to do

  • 1. Check that the console is functioning properly in handheld mode
    1. Power off the TV.
    2. Disconnect all cables from the Nintendo Switch 2 dock.
    3. Unplug the AC adapter from both the wall and dock/console.
    4. Leave unplugged for 30 seconds.
    5. Connect the AC adapter back into the console and directly to a wall outlet. The Nintendo Switch 2 console plugged in to the AC Adapater which is plugged in to a wall outlet with Joy-Con 2 controllers attached
      • Leave the Nintendo Switch 2 console undocked for now.
      • If an image is not initially displayed, press the POWER Button Nintendo Switch 2 console with POWER Button and volume buttons highlighted on the console.
    6. With the console still undocked, ensure it has the latest system update installed.
  • 2. Check your accessories
    1. Check that you’re using the Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapterImage of a Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter (MOD. NGN-01) and USB-C Cable, the Nintendo Switch 2 dockImage of the Nintendo Switch 2 dock showing the model number BEE-005., and an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable (such as the one included with Nintendo Switch 2).
      • The AC adapter, dock, and HDMI cable included with Nintendo Switch cannot be used to play Nintendo Switch 2 in TV mode.
      • Not using a Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter

A Nintendo Switch AC adapter (MOD. HAC-002) can be used to charge the console when directly plugged in, but cannot be used with the dock to charge the console and support TV mode. An AC adapter that supports at least 54W should be used.

If a non-licensed AC adapter is being used, replacing it with the correct accessory may resolve the problem.

You can purchase the Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter or dock from Nintendo Store.

    2. Check the accessories (AC adapter, HDMI cable, dock) for damage.
      • Damage can include frayed or split cord, loose connectors or USB ports, kinks, etc.
  • 3. Check your TV setup
    1. Connect the AC adapter to the dock and directly to a wall outlet. Avoid using a power strip when troubleshooting.
    2. Connect the HDMI cable to the dock and directly to an HDMI port on the TV.

Important: If a different device is being used such as a sound bar, a home theater system, or a video adapter, remove them temporarily.

    3. Power on the TV.
    4. Place the console in the dock.
      • Make sure the console screen facing in the same direction as the front panel on the dock.
      • Remove any protective cases before docking the console.

Situation not resolved

  • A second dock works

If the console works using a different dock, only the original dock will need to be serviced.

Important: For assistance with the dock, please contact us for additional support.

  • No image on TV persists after troubleshooting

If the issue is not resolved using the troubleshooting steps above, the Nintendo Switch 2 console and the dock will need to come in for service.

For your convenience, Nintendo provides a quick and easy-to-use online service request process.
